Made with sliced strawberries and homemade whipped cream, strawberries and cream is a snack or treat that is quick and easy to make. Its basic recipe can be tweaked in many ways. Vanilla or amaretto liqueur can be added to the cream, or sour cream with brown sugar can replace the whipped cream altogether and be used as a dip. Layers of strawberries and cream can also be used to make trifles.
Strawberries and cream is a British dish. In 1514, during the Tudor period, Cardinal Thomas Wolsey—who was close to King Henry VIII—began building Hampton Court. Its large kitchens fed about 600 people twice a day. According to one story, a chef there came up with strawberries and cream so that desserts could quickly be prepared for the many guests. The chef's name is not known and Wolsey tends to get credit for the treat's creation. Another similar story says that strawberries and cream were first served at a banquet hosted by Wolsey, but it puts the date of their creation at 1509, which predates the building of Hampton Court.

In college football, the postseason is preceded by the regular season, which follows training camp, which follows talking season, which follows list season.
That’s where we sit in mid-May. Waiting for the preseason yearbooks to arrive. Waiting for the conference media day extravaganzas.
And looking at lists. Making our own lists. Tilting an eyebrow at lists that other outlets shared.
Today, eyebrows twitch at a top 25 list from Tom Fornelli of CBSSports.com. Not because he did anything outrageous or upsetting. He didn’t.
He simply compiled votes from a panel of writers and analysts at their CBS website and 247Sports, ranking the 65 Power Five football coaches: the guys in the ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and (drumroll!) Notre Dame.
You make a list like that to get people talking, Let’s talk.
1. The ACC Needs Star Power
Two ACC coaches cracked the top 25: Dabo Swinney (No. 2) of Clemson and Mack Brown (No. 12) of North Carolina.
The four other Power Five leagues all had at least double that amount. The Big Ten had eight representatives, the SEC six — with four guys in the top 10.
Ouch.
Swinney and Brown need somebody in the ACC to make them sweat, especially Swinney. He’s been on top in the ACC Atlantic Division too easily for too long.
The third-highest-ranked ACC coach, at 26, was Virginia’s Bronco Mendenhall. He would have made my top 25. The Cavaliers won the Coastal division in 2019 and finished strong last season, winning four of their last five.

Tommy DeVito can’t recover fully — Syracuse quarterback Tommy DeVito injured his ankle during an October game against Duke that resulted in him missing seven games to end the year and never seeing the field again. DeVito had thrown for 593 yards and four touchdowns in the short time he was able to play, but Syracuse really didn’t get to see much of him. The Orange went out and got Mississippi State transfer Garrett Shrader, so if DeVito isn’t at 100% in 2021, they can fall back on him. But it would be best for Syracuse to have the more talented quarterback ready.

ACC makes revenue strides, but still trails several Power 5 Conferences (theclemsoninsider.com; Vandervort)
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on major college athletics is coming to light. And the news is not as bad as one might think for the Atlantic Coast Conference.
According to USA TODAY writer Steve Berkowitz, the Atlantic Coast Conference increased its yearly payouts in 2020 from $30.9 million in 2019 to $37 million, plus $10.8 million to Notre Dame as a partial member.
Berkowitz reports the ACC was aided by new income from the ACC Network, which launched in August of 2019. It helped increase revenue by just over $40 million to nearly $497 million.
The ACC’s $40 million dollar jump was the biggest among the Power 5 Conferences.
However, Berkowitz also reported, despite the revenue increase, the ACC reported a nearly $3 million annual operating deficit. He wrote the conference attributed the deficit to “the timing of supplemental payments to schools that were made after central-office costs fell mainly due to the cancellation of spring 2020 championships. They said conference reserves were not impacted.”
As for the other conferences, the report shows he Big Ten dropped from $780 million to $768.9 million. The SEC reported $728.9 million, up from $721 million in 2019. The Pac-12 was up just a little, going from $530.4 million to $533. 8 million in 2020. The Big 12 fell from $439 million to $409.2 million.

Quarterback turnover at Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State: ...even if the strength of the rosters and coaching suggest we should not question their title-contending status, what about the quarterback position? Clemson has at least seen its successor to Trevor Lawrence in a high-pressure situation with DJ Uiagalelei stepping in against Boston College and Notre Dame last season... When you reach the level of Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State, the stress of replacing a first-round NFL Draft pick quarterback is lessened by having talented options, but it's still a question mark at the most important position on the field.

The Oneida Indian Nation has announced plans for a $25 million project that will include 70 vacation rental cottages at the former Mariner’s Landing Marina in Sylvan Beach.
The Cove at Sylvan Beach is expected to open in summer 2022, Oneida Nation officials said. The cottages will be two- and three-bedroom units, and come with a pontoon or deck boat, boat slip, fire pit and gas grill.
Rental prices will be announced soon, said Joel Barkin, speaking for the Oneida Nation
A shop, Sylvan Beach Supply Co., will also be opened to rent boats, jet skis, bicycles, kayaks and more, plus accessories.
In 2019, the Oneida Nation notified the mobile home park residents who were living on Oneida Nation land there that they had to vacate. That notice went to about 30 year-round mobile homes.
Oneida Nation officials said at the time it would develop the land on the southeast shore of Oneida Lake into something “boater-focused.” There were about 30 year-around mobile homes in the park along with some seasonal recreational vehicles that had to vacate within six months of getting the notice
