Could Braxton Miller Have Been the Answer to the Syracuse 2015 QB Question? (TNIAAM; Wall)

Reports out of Columbus say that Ohio State QB Braxton Miller is considering Duke as a destination in 2015. Miller has already been linked to Oregon and Florida State and with his recent graduation, he'll be eligible to play right away as a transfer. Now a month ago, Miller was reported to be returning to Ohio State, but with the emergence of J.T. Barrett and the play of Cardale Jones in the B1G Championship Game, it would seem as though Miller would want to guarantee himself a starting job in his final season.

So, how does Syracuse factor in all of this? It doesn't seem like Syracuse is in the discussion at all, but I'm going to ask if the Orange should have been in the hunt for Miller. Would a player like Miller, even for one year, help to Save Syracuse Football?

Syracuse has some experience with a fifth-year transfer coming in to start at QB, but that's where all similarities between Miller and Greg Paulus end. Paulus was coming off four years of basketball at Duke, but new head coach Doug Marrone wanted to change the Syracuse culture and saw value in Paulus's leadership. During his one year as Orange QB, Paulus had a rating of 132.6, but perhaps more importantly his presence allowed Marrone to reshape the attitude and expectations of the Syracuse football program. While a 4-8 record and a way-too-familiar reliance on bubble screens makes Paulus' year seem unremarkable to many Orange fans, his QB rating was better than thesophomore and junior seasons of Ryan Nassib, whom we were all pretty thrilled with by career's end, no?

Louisville Falls to Georgia 37-14 in Belk Bowl (theacc.com)

Brandon Radcliff ran for 91 yards and a touchdown, but 20th-ranked Louisville lost to No. 13 Georgia 37-14 in the Belk Bowl on Tuesday night.

Redshirt freshman quarterback Kyle Bolin made his first career start for Louisville and finished 20 of 40 for 301 yards with two interceptions and one touchdown.

Freshman Nick Chubb ran for a career-high 266 yards and two touchdown as No. 13 Georgia overcame an injury to starting quarterback Hutson Mason.

Chubb averaged 8 yards per carry and the Bulldogs (10-3) piled up 301 yards rushing against the nation's second-best run defense.

Chubb's rushing total was second highest in school history, behind only Herschel Walker's 283 yards rushing against Vanderbilt in 1980.

Chubb finished his first season at Georgia by running for 1,323 yards and 12 touchdowns in last eight games after taking over as the primary ball carrier. Gurley later injured his knee in his first game back from the injury.

New Year's Day bowls are resurrected and alive again (CBSSports)

NEW ORLEANS -- The shovels are ready. College football digs up New Year's Day from its grave on Thursday.

Thursday is the day college football reclaims New Year's Day after a miserable decade when one of the sport's best brands got trashed. Thursday is the day two playoff games finally happen and three other Top 25 bowl games occur.

Is your heart skipping a few beats? If you're a rabid college football fan or even just a casual observer, it should be. Look at the schedule: No. 19 Auburn vs. No. 18 Wisconsin (Outback Bowl); No. 8 Michigan State vs. No. 5 Baylor (Cotton); No. 16 Missouri vs. No. 25 Minnesota (Citrus); No. 2 Oregon vs. No. 3 Florida State (Rose); No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Ohio State (Sugar)...
