SU Commit Steven Clark Hopes to Decide Between Syracuse and Florida This Week (PS; Bailey)
Syracuse defensive tackle commit Steven Clark is still considering the scholarship offer recently extended by Florida, he said in a series of text messages on Wednesday evening. Clark took an official visit to UF last weekend that led him to consider the Gators offer, which was extended last Tuesday, more heavily. He hopes to make a decision by the end of the week.
Florida visited Clark earlier on Wednesday, he said, while SU defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough and defensive line coach Tim Daoust checked in with Clark Wednesday evening.
For now, the 6-foot-3, 290-pound Brindlee Mountain (Guntersville, Ala.) High School senior remains one of three defensive tackles committed to Syracuse's Class of 2015, along with Tyler Cross and Anthony Giudice. He has developed a close relationship with Daoust and received an in-home visit from SU head coach Scott Shafer the night before choosing the Orange over South Alabama in early December.
Clark added that Ole Miss, which visited him on Monday, has not offered a scholarship and that no other teams are in the picture as of now.

ACC Winter Meetings Set to Being (ESPN; Adelson)
ACC winter meetings get underway in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this afternoon. Though there is nothing on the table that needs an immediate vote, athletic directors will be discussing a wide range of topics.
Among them:
Autonomy. Now that Power 5 conferences have the autonomy they wanted, there will be discussion about how any decisions made will impact both the league and member schools and their real-world applications. Cost of attendance is sure to be a topic, as schools try to figure out a way to pay for the added expense at a time when revenues do not meet expenses in many athletic departments. Boston College voted against cost of attendance legislation, though the school will go ahead and pay for the cost increases.
Television. There have been recent reports that the ACC Network is getting closer to reality. Florida State president John Thrasher seemed optimistic in recent comments. So did Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock, who put a potential launch at 2016 or 2017. Television partners will be at the winter meetings, but they have annual face time with league reps. There is no set agenda for in-depth discussions about an ACC Network, but that doesn't mean plans are on the shelf. There has been progress made toward that end, but it would be premature to say the league was nearly ready to make a big announcement. League officials still have no timetable for when a network could come to fruition.
Scheduling. North Carolina and Wake Forest announced a nonconference series earlier this week that has drawn support from inside the ACC. Whether this becomes a trend remains to be seen, but surely athletic directors will have discussions about the pros and cons. However, the unconventional move does not mean the league is going to start rethinking how it handles its schedule. The vote last year to remain at eight league games has essentially put the scheduling questions to rest. Whether ACC schools want to schedule each other outside league play is an institutional decision.

CNY Weather: 4-8 Inches of Snow, 30 MPH Winds, Below Zero Wind Chill (PS; Coin)
It could be a mess out there tonight and Friday.
Central New York could see 4 to 8 inches of snow accompanied by winds up to 30 mph and wind chills below zero, the National Weather Service said. A winter weather advisory has been issued for Central and Northern New York from 5 p.m. today until 5 p.m. Friday.
"The snow starts late today, then continues all night," the weather service said. "Snow and blowing snow will make roads slippery."
Here's what to expect:
• Four to 8 inches of snow, starting mid-afternoon and continuing coming down throughout the night. It will taper off to lake effect snow showers Friday morning.
• Temperatures in the 20s tonight, falling through the teens Friday. Wind chills could drop below zero by Friday afternoon and could dip into the dangerous range by Saturday morning.
