Virginia Tech Set to Start Spring Practice (richmond.com; Barber)
Michael Brewer said Virginia Tech has its sights set strictly forward as the Hokies open spring football practice today, even if last year’s disappointing record gave them a bit of a kick in the rear end.
“We try not to harp too much on a last season, but I think everybody’s kind of (mad), is the only way to put it,” quarterback Michael Brewer said. “A little bit (mad) about the way things went. We know we’re a much better football team than 7-6 and we want to be able to go out next year and prove that. And we know we can.”
Today is the first of 15 practices, culminating with the annual spring game April 25 at 2 p.m. at Lane Stadium.
Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer is scheduled to meet with the media before today’s practice, his first availability since undergoing throat surgery before last year’s bowl game win over Cincinnati, a game he coached from the press box.
