Welcome to National Apple Dumpling Day!
Be a member of the Apple Dumpling Gang. National Apple Dumpling Day is today. We are celebrating a tasty fall treat. Its easy to make (and, even easier to buy!). Apple lovers can't resist this pastry, filled with sweet, delicious apples.
With the arrival of fall and cool weather, two things happen: the apple harvest begins, and people turn indoors to cooking and baking again. It's only natural that apples are a big part of the cooking scene. Among the most popular of fall treats is apple dumplings. For those of you who enjoy ice cream, some apple dumpling recipes include a scoop of ice cream atop a generous piece of Apple Dumpling.
Enjoy some Apple dumpling today. Chances are, you haven't had it since last Fall!
Happy National Apple Dumpling Day!

Syracuse vs Central Michigan: See Our Picks, Make Your Predictions (PS; Staff)
The Syracuse football team will take on Central Michigan at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Carrier Dome.
It's time for our predictions. Hop below in the comments and offer your picks.
Brent Axe
I have some concerns about Cooper Rush vs. the Syracuse secondary, but I think the Orange defensive front will put enough pressure on him to win. SU 28, Central Michigan 20
Stephen Bailey
Chippewas senior quarterback Cooper Rush will keep his team in the game, but with limited firepower surrounding him the Orange pulls away late. Look for a heavy dose of power runs from SU with play-action sprinkled in. SU 34, Central Michigan 24
Nate Mink
There shouldn't be much stress put on the Syracuse defense by an offense that has struggled to run the ball as badly as Central Michigan has in two games. That should enable it to tee off on Cooper Rush and force him into some poor decisions.. SU 38, Central Michigan 14
Bud Poliquin
Sure, we learned something about Eric Dungey last week. But we learned this, too: If SU "celebrates" Dick MacPherson, a Hall-of-Famer, with a few measly waves between quarters, Doug Marrone can expect to be honored on his day somewhere down the road with a shrug between snaps. SU 31, Central Michigan 10
SU vs CMU Preview: Q&A with Hustle Belt, the Leading CMU Football Blog (TNIAAM; Cassillo)
Despite injuries, the Syracuse Orange are 2-0 on the 2015 season and take the field this Saturday against the Central Michigan Chippewas to try and get to 3-0 for the first time in over 20 years. I know! INSANE. "Thanks, tough scheduling!"
Below, Nick Fries (who you should follow on Twitter) from SB Nation's MAC blogHustle Belt, stops by to share everything we'll need to know about the Chippewas. We answer some questions over there, which you can check out here.
What was your main takeaway from last year's loss against Syracuse at home?
Despite having possibly a minor temper issue, Syracuse QB Terrel Hunt was a play-maker. He ran all over our defense for three TD's, and he also threw for one. Our defense was heavily exploited, mainly in the rushing game. We were embarrassed in every facet of the game, on both sides of the football. Our offensive line was incredibly outmatched, leading to one of our worst rushing performances of the season. Overall, the main takeaway was our severe deficiency in control at the line of scrimmage.
Dan Enos left after a successful 2014 season -- how's the transition to a new coaching staff going?
New head coach John Bonamego has beat cancer, and led his team to two impressive performances. Despite the 1-1 record, Bonamego's squad has played above expectations. To be brutally honest, many Chippewa fans were doubtful of the team's potential heading into the season. After Enos left for the Arkansas OC position (they just lost to Toledo. KARMA!), there was only one word that could describe the situation in Mt. Pleasant: chaos. When the team's head coach is gone on signing day, recruits may have difficulties deciding to go through with the decision to dedicate the next four years of their lives to the program. However, many of the recruits stayed true to their commitments, and the momentum has carried into the season. An unexpected close loss to Oklahoma State renewed a sense of pride throughout the players and fan base, giving the new coaching staff more respect. Bonamego has been at the helm of a relatively smooth transition thus far.

Thursday Tailgate: An ACC-B1G Football Challenge? (usatoday.com; Timanus)
Officially, the ACC-Big Ten Challenge is a basketball event. But the two leagues will have a miniature version of it on the gridiron this weekend.
It’s probably just coincidental, but there are five games pitting ACC against B1G on Saturday. There’s no telling how they’ll unfold, of course, but here’s a ranking of what we think will be the best ones.
1. No. 24 Northwestern at Duke. This meeting of 2-0 squads almost qualifies for the Friday list of games to watch in the College Football Playoff hunt. That sentence alone speaks volumes about the coaching jobs Pat Fitzgerald and David Cutcliffehave done making their respective programs relevant again. The Wildcats have what would appear to be the best win thus far against Stanford, but the Blue Devils did what the favored team is supposed to do in dispatching Tulane and North Carolina Central.
2. Pittsburgh at Iowa. ThePanthers were hit with the loss of star tailback James Conner, but they’ve survived challenges in their first two contests. If you’re not convinced by last week’s win against Akron, keep in mind Pitt lost to the Zips a season ago, so that can only be seen as progress for new head man Pat Narduzzi. The Hawkeyes finished well to get by archrival Iowa State a week ago but must avoid a letdown.
3. Nebraska at Miami. Just over a decade ago, this game would be appointment television. These programs, both of whom are now in new leagues, are trying to recapture their identities and get back to contending for championships. The Hurricanes are 2-0 but untested, while the Cornhuskers bounced back from being the first victims of late BYU heroics to get new coach Mike Riley his first victory in Lincoln last week.
