I ask because after losing a season of attendance this year I bet people will be yearning to get to a game next year.

If we had a Saturday game with a big team on the road here could the court actually be put in the middle of the Dome could we get 40k+ in the stadium?

If they started exploring what would be needed now it would be easier to plan.
No season ticket holders would be affected now. You tell them they will get priority seating when a plan developed.

I think it would be time for that. One time only type of deal.

If we can manage to bring back a strong roster with hype going into the season I think it would be a fun idea to pursue. Question I would have is do you just have a ton of floor seating to make of the dead space? You couldn't do bleachers as they would run higher than the lowest level fixed seating..

I would do floor space and have temporary bleachers brought in like behind the court on the opposite side from the benches.

Put season ticket holders in priority seating.

I know it would never play but playing host in something like a legends of the Big East tourney with the old players and doing it with the dome setup that way would be an awesome event. GTown, UConn, Nova, SJU, Providence, Seton Hall, Pitt and SU.

My opinion - we lost our shot at doing this and having it be successful. The time to do it was the first Duke game in our debut ACC season when we were a top 10 team. Not sure you’ll get a packed Dome now with the state of our program and coming off of COVID - even if we get a Kansas or Gonzaga or similar up here.

The only other option remaining would be JB’s send off game if his retirement is announced ahead of time. But I don’t see that happening either.

If you got the equivalent seat to your current location would it bother you?

We need a spark it up next year. Demand will be high if we market it well.

Bees hates everyone. That’s why. He’s a meany.

Is he a season ticket holder ? Like poster below said season ticket holders would be against it. Selfish if u ask me. Skurey explained perfectly.

Fans may not come back after COVID and continued mediocrity.
Casuals may check out the new scoreboard but otherwise stay home.
But we may have 40k and need to put the court in the middle.
Which is it?

I think it would be a cool thing to see, especially with the new score board, but it people are clamoring to get out to games next year we'll simply see the typically low attendance games with higher attendance. Instead of 18,000 we'll get 24,000. Instead of 28,000 we'll get 32,000.

You really haven't been here very long, have you? Yes, he's a season ticket holder.

They would have to announce it before season tickets went on sale. But would you like to have a worse seat for the biggest game of the year if you were a season ticket holder? Not sure I'd be excited about that.

And yes, with the amount they pay in donations and for tickets, their opinion should matter.

The new sound systems and lighting installed in the Dome is for the current basketball seating configuration.

I hope the administration is not overestimating the bump from a new roof and scoreboard. Casuals may come out of curiosity for a game or two, but the product on the court will always be the determining factor. Maybe a 1 or 2% bump in sales all other things being equal.

The reality is that you could probably put one of the lesser games in the middle and promote it and sell a bunch of tickets. If you took that game out of the season package where 75% of the ST dont attend anyway would they care? Then you give them first dibs on the best of whatever seats the new location offers and then move on,.
