For next season is it possible to put the court in the middle of the Dome?

They would have to announce it before season tickets went on sale. But would you like to have a worse seat for the biggest game of the year if you were a season ticket holder? Not sure I'd be excited about that.

And yes, with the amount they pay in donations and for tickets, their opinion should matter.
I think temporary seats could be added and put season ticket holders there.

I would make the game against a team like Gonzaga. Not Duke or North Carolina.

The new sound systems and lighting installed in the Dome is for the current basketball seating configuration.

So what magic did they use for football this past season?

you basically have 4 tiers of games.. you have the games few attend the few OC games that people want to see and then the ACC games and then the occasional big games,

The people who spend the bucks get the best seats. thats fine..

But if they sold a package of games where the court was in the middle and a package where it is now you could actually open up a new market.. there will be more decent seats in the middle and less bad seats.. firgure out what that number is. maybe the big money doesnt want to pay for all the bad games but they still own the seats. maybe you do it for 4-5 lower tier games and allow them to not but those seats. There are 99% of the fan base who never sits there who may pay more for lesser games but better seats?

Is he a season ticket holder ? Like poster below said season ticket holders would be against it. Selfish if u ask me. Skurey explained perfectly.
Season ticket holders contribute what, 95% of the ticket revenue for basketball?

You want to alienate your best customers and devalue their contributions to the program to make small improvements in seating for a few thousand fans who attend one game a year.

What could go wrong?

I have been to a number of Final Fours held in football stadia. I have seen the seats you get when you try and hold a basketball game in a stadium built to host football games. And all of those games were played in a corner of the stadium, so at least a small portion of the fans had access to somewhat decent seats.

What is proposed here would be a PR disaster. It makes no sense whatsoever. If casual fans who buy a ticket to one game a year want better seats, why can't they do what every season ticket holder has done, and buy a season ticket?

Different lighting angles and a different set of speakers. I’m sure it could be done, but it might not be ideal.

You put in temp stands, and you kill the 100 level. Don't use temp stands, and the 100's are long range view.

The 300's are too far away.

Football season ticket holders lost games to Metlife stadium.
The USC game, 2 Notre Dame games that should just have been in the Dome.

If basketball season ticket holders can’t lose one game in the normal spot for a special type of atmosphere then whatever.

It wouldn’t be a conference game if I were in charge. Instead of a tomato can game I would make a home/home with a program like Gonzaga that wouldn’t come if we didn’t make it a special type of game.

Take the game out of season ticket packages if season ticket holders can’t stand losing their spots.
Give them priority if they want to go the game and just do it.

Season ticket holders for basketball can’t lose a game but it’s okay for football season ticket holders to lose elite home games?

I was on your side of the argument before I had season tickets and now I'm on the typical season ticket holder's side. I get it both ways, but they aren't going to upset the fans that butter their bread. Especially when SU sports is struggling right now.

Season ticket holders will never allow it. It's like asking the billionaires to pay more in taxes to help out the common man.
Hey, I’d allow it! But no one has yet explained to me how the new seats are going to be in the Dome. I think the only way they can “upgrade” the seats in the third level is to have a comfortable padded bench with a padded back. They still need to squeeeeeeze people in there, and they would lose room for a lot of fans if they put nice individual seats in.

If they do that they can cut the cost of my season tickets by whatever percentage my view gets worse by?
If the game was taken out of the season ticket package and just made available for season ticket holders if they wanted to go.

no it wasn’t ok for football season ticket holders to have lost those games that gross took from us. We said it at the time. So we’re consistent.

I paid for football even though I don’t go because football needs supoort.

I probably would have gone to the USC and ND games. I was more upset it made us look like a midmajor than losing the home games.

If basketball moved the Court for a one off and didn’t make it part of season tickets and still had 17 home games as season tickets I don’t think season ticket holders are getting screwed.
Especially if they still had all the conference home games.

I would make the one off game a typical tomato can we are replacing with a home/home with an elite program.

Season tickets would still get the Big Ten/Georgetown game
Cornell
Colgate
ACC schedule.

You may have said that but others against this idea didn’t say that.

i don’t remember who of course, but I know it was a hot topic here with a lot of complaining by most everyone. Especially the game that was “moved”.

There are more single game ticket holders then season ticket holders (who most give away tickets to games they don't attend every game) at games.

If the game was taken out of the season ticket package and just made available for season ticket holders if they wanted to go.
The problem is if it’s a game like Gonzaga then you’re doing them a disservice.

“Here’s the best OOC game at the Dome in years but your tickets don’t apply”

Hulk I agree with your point but things would have done in a manner to make sure season ticket holders weren’t screwed.
Typically they get 17-18 games a year.

If the AD made sure season ticket holders got 17 games.
The game moved wasn’t Duke, Georgetown or North Carolina but a special one off then they could do it.

Season ticket holders need to get respected.
The big time donors who have courtside seats would still get courtside seats if the court were moved.
The bread and butter season ticket holders need to be respected but if they didn’t get charged for this game and it was a special package it could work.

Well since the game wouldn’t normally be played either pay for the game or no charge to that person.

Aka what happened for football fans for the games at Metlife.

Also season ticket holders would still be getting the Big Ten challenge or Georgetown game.
Plus 10 ACC conference games.

You're forgetting, or are ignorant to, the donations many of the season ticket holders pay to have access to better seats. That's a big chunk of dough.

Regardless of seating arrangements, the tradition of standing and clapping before a made basket needs to go. This mediocre squad almost went undefeated at home without that distraction.

You'd have to load up the non conference home slate.

And then do it in February against a big name ACC or OOC.

ST holders would still get the best seats in a redesigned Dome. You just can't do it if its one of 2-3 high demand games all year. Especially when we play good teams on a Tuesday at 9pm.

Also the program has to be better to consider this. If we had been humming along with seasons like 2014 since then this idea is far more tangible and realistic.
