All because of Silent G. That boy killin it in limited minutes. We're always talking about Ennis' great 4 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. G has a 3 to 1 himself. As well as bringing in some much needed perimeter defense. Came up big when guarding Patterson. I'd like to see him stretch the D more though, he is currently shooting 50% from 3. I think he's gonna be big come tournament time.

Also, I see people talking about Grant and Fair's minutes. They really do look gassed sometimes, especially going for rebounds against physical teams. I wouldn't be shocked to see JB bring in Gbinije with Cooney and Ennis and go small more often to help Fair and Grant get some breathers.

Cooney didn't give up the wide open 3's ... it was Tyler. Cooney just got nabbed for the last one when it should have been obvious the guy wasn't gonna miss.

2 of the 3 in a row were Cooney's. One was Ennis' and then the one that Patterson took the lead with later in the 2nd half was as well I believe. Either that or it was 2 and 2. But I'm pretty sure Ennis only gave up one

Cooney gave up three 3's. You better let JB know. One he was on Cooney about, one he was on Ennis and one he was on Grant, Ennis and Cooney, so who knows.

You're just guessing now.

Nah. It was the whole reason G got subbed in for Cooney. Patterson hit the three's and Cooney went straight to the bench and JB was shown screaming at him. He also yelled at him on the lead shot. The announcers were glorifying it a bit, but nonetheless happened. G made him throw up bricks.

Not really. One was on cooney and the other was right in between cooney and ennis.

jb wasn't going to yell at ennis like that. Cripes, ennis could hand patterson the ball and throw a block for him and he may not get yelled at.

Wasn't Cooney the one who gave up the wide open one down the stretch that gave Pitt the lead as well? That would mean Cooney gave up two, Ennis gave up one, then they both sat there together for a fourth. Either way, it was bad. Should have closed out.

You do realize Cooney was subbed out with only 5 seconds left in the game? Cooney's hustle getting that huge rebound with a minute left (one of our few 2nd half rebounds)led to Ennis layup that made it 55-52. I agree Gbinije played great defense the last 5 seconds of the game .

I don't even know what game you're talking about anymore. G didn't come in for Cooney until the last few seconds when Pitt was gonna miss the FT on purpose and G is taller for a possible rebound. You're either talking about a game I don't remember or making stuff up.

As an aside, I watched a bit of the Duke-NCSt game. You may recall we had BeeJay Anya (NCSt) on our recruiting radar. Good thing we didn't get him. He's 6'8" and looks like 350. He was useless - just jogged lazily between the top of the keys because he was too slow to get in the play at the rim where he belongs. No motor, no gas. Pathetic.

I saw some of that game too. He'd be getting splitters here. Duke looked good though.

After Patterson hit the third three JB was screaming at Cooney. I do think G came in for him for a couple minutes after the break, I believe G even hit a couple free throws while he was in.

That was in the first half and it wasn't after a made 3. He was slow to rotate but they missed it.

I'm clearly not talking about the last five seconds of the game. Patterson missed his last four or five shots. I'm just saying when G was out there he held better ground on him during his minimal minutes. JB put him in a couple times because of it, not right away or at that moment, but he was screaming at Cooney as soon as those 3's happened in both sequences. It was the whole point of the timeouts. To scream at Cooney.

It was the second half when he hit the 3 threes in a row and Cooney got the wrath.

G did not randomly transfer to SU. He was a gift to us from Coach K. After his freshman year, he had a talk with K, expressing his disappointment with playing time ... and with what he saw as his prospects for additional playing time in the future. They talked about where he might go. Being familiar with G's game, K suggested SU where he thought G would fit into JB's system. K obviously put in a good word for G (otherwise JB would never have taken one of K's players). It will be interesting to see him in our two games against Duke this year.

Interesting. Weren't we also highly involved with Gbinije as a recruit?

Yes it was the 2nd half when the 3's were hit. I'm meant it was first half when you said G came in and hit 2 FTs. That was first half.

Yeah, we were his second choice I believe.

Damn. I just read my original post and realized I worded it wrong my bad LOL. ALthough I don't think i mentioned the FT's.. What my post should have said was more along the lines of "He came up big I noticed after seeing Cooney give up those 3's in the second half, cause I noticed he played smothering defense at the 3pt line when he was in the game, he didn't let patterson get open looks"

My fault. I sort of made it sound like actual chronological events that led to it without meaning to.

100% wrong. On one he screamed at Cooney cause he was the first one there. As soon as Ennis got to the bench he screamed at him. Then it was Grants turn. The other time he screamed at Cooney was in the first half after he didn't rotate and Ennis accidentally tripped a player. g came in then. That was first half, not 2nd after the 3 straight 3's. Hell one of the 3's was an NBA 3 with Cooney's hand in his face.

Now tell me about this 2nd half where G stopped 4-5 Patterson shots after Cooney got pulled.
