Thought we had downed that punt at the one late in the game. Our guy cleanly caught it at the one and his momentum carried him into the end zone as he threw it back. I thought if you catch it like that it is downed.

If he had caught it and his momentum carried him into the end zone but he did not try to throw it back i bet it would have been downed. I'm kind of surprised there was no challenge or it wasnt reviewed unless I'm misunderstanding the rules. Anyway happy with the win. Sorry I couldn't attend. Those three empty seats in the SU section were mine. Oh well

I thought the same thing, Clark had possession on the one and it should have been called down. The refs seem to make you stop in the field of play though. If he was on the six and fell onto the five the ball would have been placed on the six. I'm sure of it

if he catches it its dead.. the refs didnt even pay attention long enough to decide if he had control before he tried to drop it.. if seen it called both ways.

i was more concerned with the roughing penalty on a player that clearly was being blocked when he made marginal contact with the punter.. and then on the same drive we get a PI call when incidental contact from players feet and a ball clearly uncatchable.

but what was the deal with the clear horsecollar the over turned?

The refs gave the wolfpack home field advantage. Macky didn't hold, the PI was a joke... I live in Raleigh and got tickets away from the 'cuse crowd but made in to the 'cuse section in the second half.

With the punt, if you catch it, you need to establish possession before your momentum takes you to the endzone. We didn't do that.

The roughing the punter and pass interference were reactions to the players on the ground instead of actually looking at the what caused it to happen. Two awful calls on the same drive were pathetic by the refs.

As for the horse collar, it is a penalty if you grab the player by the open space in between his shoulder pads, down the back. This would cause a player to violently be ripped backwards, causing his knees to buckle and possibly cause injury. However, the guy chasing PTG grabbed inside the jersey, but not actually the shoulder pads. What he did was basically akin to just grabbing a guys jersey. Hope I cleared that up a bit.

Actually I thought he caught it cleanly. If his momentum had just carried him into the end zone from where he caught it and he didn't try to throw it back i bet they would have called it downed. I agree that there were quite a few questionable calls in addition to that one. Nice win on the road, not complaining.

I think it was correctly called a horse collar.. there is a secondary part of the rule that the tackle must cause the the tackle to be immediate, Gulley kept running so the tackle never happens so no penalty.. you dont have to grab just the collar. anywhere from the collar down between the shoulders can get the call.

It has to stay out of the end zone until it stops. I don't think a guy can catch it and continue into the end zone. That's why he tried to toss it back.

He clearly had possession to me.
