SU won the first ACC championship of the academic year today. Men's Cross Country finished FIRST in the conference championships. And SU women's cross country finished third. Nice start, guys and gals.

Great stuff.. any chance nationally you think?

Top 10 would be a good finish for the guys. They lack a big-time front runner (top 10-15), unless Hehir can deliver this year. This hurts at Nationals as putting 5 guys in the 50-60 range isn't going to lead to a great team finish. Strong future with Fox in charge.

Let's hope SU doesn't wait too long to give this group a new outdoor track.

Regionals are in two weeks. There'll be some talented athletes there, but I like the men's chances. We've got a terrific program right now.

Cool- I really should try and follow su cc and track being a runner myself. Love hearing about non major sports doing well. I feel like that is something we should be doing regularly to be a top athletics program in the acc not just being a big player in hoops and lacrosse.

Correct, its a "good start" A little surprising as well.Dr Gross is getting ready to retire some running shoes in the upper Dome as we speak.

Right. The men should be 1 or 2 at Regionals (along w/Iona), which is an automatic qualifier. The women will have a tougher time- PC and Dartmouth are loaded.

The Providence women are incredible. They won the Big East (which has three or four top-ten teams) today; their top four runners matched or surpassed the previous course record.

Can't say I like our women's chances, but we'll still benefit from the continued exposure. The future looks bright; recruiting is going well.

The women might be able to sneak out an at-large if they can finish ahead of BC at Regionals. Very young team so this year has been a little better than expected.

Fox and Bell can recruit with the best of them.

For some reason central new York is great for cross country. My high school (FM) is incredible, especially the girls. Of course, not sure how it's been recently, but I bet it's still a great program.

Luckily there are no referees/officials in cross country, that sure as heck helps after watching these clowns in football. Congrats to the team for giving SU their first ACC Championship!

Will you get moved to Southern regionals with the conference switch?

Not this year at least. The Regionals have remained the same despite the conference movement.

ran track and cross country at Colgate (SU for grad school) in the early 70's. We usually beat SU in both sports but SU had a runner by the name of Bruce Fisher who was outstanding. I think he was a sub 4:05 miler. Back then cross country was run at the Drumlins. Nice to see SU prominent in cross country...

They honored the Cross Country team during the football game Saturday. They came on the field with the ACC trophy and were rewarded by big cheers from the fans. Nice to see.
