I'd like an updated coin as well.
I haven't watched the presser yet...hope so.
I'm in for a coin as well!
Guy appears to understand tradition. Can't see where he would turn his nose up at a chance to create some buzz in the North Country and the military.
Plus my bet is that he will make his players rappel up the wall rather than down! Part of the new conditioning program...![]()
How do you know it didn't benefit them personally? One of the reasons you go to college is for personal enrichment.I'll be downvoted into obscurity for this, but I for one sincerely hope that we DO NOT go back to Ft Drum.
We've gone there. We respect the troops. Maybe we can do some type of joint fundraiser thing between the team and troops during an off week.
But I simply don't see the football benefit of uprooting the players and sending them to Drum halfway through Fall practices. Where did that benefit the 2015 team?
It did not, and it was one of the first things i asked to myself. How did the challenge coins come about, and how were they obtained?Didn't come up as far as I remember.
Mark,
When you get the coins, Adam's coin is on me. That is the least I can do to repay the favor. Eventually we will have a beer together.
Dino the 1st man Dino mentioned "Homer Smith" Army Coach. If he want's his players to be in theThanks man!
I hope you are in the minorityIf I was a junior or senior, going to Fort Drum for the 3rd or 4th straight year would get pretty lame - but that's just me. Maybe every 4 years or so is a better idea. And do some annual fundraiser/free tickets to the troops/acknowledgement at halftime kind of thing.
We all feel good about supporting the troops. But these are college kids. If I was a parent with a kid on the team, I'd prefer them spending more time getting situated on campus. Or go somewhere else periodically for team building events/retreats.
THE MAN, TexanMark got it going. He posted in a thread he was doing it and people reserved them. When Mark received them, and was paid, he sent them out.It did not, and it was one of the first things i asked to myself. How did the challenge coins come about, and how were they obtained?
Regardless of whether we do Ft Drum or not...I will work with SU and get more made. I had a staffer calling me hoping I had some left over...they wanted to hand them out to visiting VIPs.THE MAN, TexanMark got it going. He posted in a thread he was doing it and people reserved them. 44PRIDE said:I'm sure they all benefited personally from the experience. But I think taking a week out of Fall Preseason practice for "personal enrichment" isn't the wisest use of time.
If there isn't a direct and tangible football benefit for the visit, then it should be reconsidered.
How did i not see this!THE MAN, TexanMark got it going. He posted in a thread he was doing it and people reserved them. When Mark received them, and was paid, he sent them out.
It was on the pay board...How did i not see this!
STILL! People just don't get this. UghThey aren't taking any time out of practice. They run their full practice schedule.
Team building activities away from campus, a full practice schedule and building a relationship with Ft Drum...honestly it amazes me that anyone would be against it.
Heresy!Yup...instead of their downtime staring at a cell phone...they are actually talking to each other.
