Forty-Two comment on HCDM's statement

Thanks again OE for all that you do and I apologize because I am not trying to shoot the messenger, but it is getting really tiresome with everyone doing all this complaining. I understand that it really sucks that we cannot participate with our beloved Orange. We have been down a long dark dreary road over the last century concerning SU football and there is still a "long road to hoe". The only way that we are going to get fans back is by winning. There is no level of wining and dining the fans if we do not show more progress. Progress has been set back a bit with the move to the ACC and changes occurring in the BE. We all new this season was going to be this way and it is what it is. Once we have started in the ACC and have more stability things will be a bit different and what we consider "normal".

I think one of the most telling things in the Marrone clip is when he repeated the statement about "team chemistry". DM realizes more than anyone else things got away from him last year. I would suggest this is the major reason that practices are closed. When he says they are really getting after it,I would assume so. DM himself has discussed his prima donna party attitude when he came to SU and how that was changed when he was here. I think he recognized his early self in last years team and has set out to change that atmosphere.

As far as the binder, you got to be a fool to realize that sometimes the "best laid plans can fall by the way side". Ideas and procedures change as you approach obstacles face to face; theory is one thing and application is another. If DM thinks this is what he needs to do with this team than that is what he needs to do. It is his neck and he needs to show progression or he will be replaced. I would gladly trade in a spring of silence for a bowl game next season.

We will see/receive or reports from Rochester and then we can decide it was worth it or we are going to take our ball and go home. Personally, as long as I am still in the area, I will have my pair of season tickets for better or for worse and till death do us part.

I like this post - though I do not agree that the ACC move has had any negative consequences.

Yes, the notion that a coach or CEO or other type of manager must stay within the bounds of the orginal plan - not matter what - is not logical or realistic.

Plus, non of us knows what was or is in the "binder."

I agree, however, as Marrone has said himself, if he does not win, he'll be gone at some point, so I have no problem with him taking action that he feels he must take to assure that wins will come more quickly in the near future.

I apologize because I was not totally clear. I do agree that the ACC move is a positive move for our program. As of right now it has set back progress for at least a year with the upheaval of having to wait for the move and the weird scheduling situation/games to be played(hopefully this year only if we leave after next season). This season is a limbo year and a sort of side track to the progression as a program from the "basement" years. So no once we move it will be fine, but we are in the process of packing the U-Haul. It is not necessarily a negative thing but more of the "in between" which might slow progression down a bit. It will be a lot more productive when we can say, "We are playing in the ACC." than " We are going to play in the ACC, but we have to play a jumbled mess for a season."

I just don't see how the move has set the program back at all.

Just the opposite.

I think the move has helped in recruiting and I suspect in infratructure development - though I do not have specifics in that regard.

Would I be happy if the move were to occur this September? Yes, of course. But the additional year in the BE has no real impact as far as I can see - other than perhaps the loss of increased attendance at the Dome for new opponents such as Clemson or Florida State.

I totally agree. I think the point that I am trying to get across is that we are dealing with a weird year and a lot of people are unhappy with it. It is what it is; we saw it coming and must except it not sense on everyone going berserk about it. Things will be a lot different when we are there.

The taste I was left with from the 2011 season was 10 penalties & 5 turnovers in a must win game. Not to spoil anyone's party, but last year I was told back in March that the team attitude was bad. Many of the guys were living off the glory of the bowl win, too much partying and not enough hard work towards the season. That last stretch of 5 losses and the horrific, embarrassing Pitt game did nothing but confirm that March report. It is April 3rd and with this news black out I'm still feeling the negativity from last year.

At least if a guy like Dave Rahme were allowed to do some mini reports the general public might start to feel some excitement and that "Hope Springs Eternal" feeling when the birds are chirping and the grass gets green. This spring just feels unnatural and weird.

There was nothing in the binder about going to the ACC
