Between Davis, Freeman and Lampkin I like what we have. Yes it’s Lemoyne but they were strong on the boards. Davis was a stud tonight. Our bigs can really pass too which is nice.

Bell will obviously have his moments too. So between Davis, Freeman, Lampkin and Bell we will be fine at forward.

Guards leave a lot to be desired. Starling I thought would play a lot better. He needs to step up. Carlos had good assist numbers and low turnovers but he need him to be more of scoring threat and he had some defensive lapses. I would like to see Choppa get more time to see what we have there because I don’t think Taylor is the answer. He is solid at D but not much more

Agree. Just LeMoyne but Davis and Lampkin can throw their weight around and Donnie is good/ready.

Bell is stronger and also suited to the leading scorer role now he's a Jr.

Can't believe we have to suffer through 2 more seasons of JJ playing every minute and getting abused defensively. Take away the assists and Carlos is below average at everything else. Red isn't playing the other guys so we'll see maybe they can play better than tonight but I'm pretty sure that is who they are.

This isn't a young team at all so we can't have close calls the next 2 games before Texas.

Yep. That has to be JJs worst game of the year hands down. He can’t play like that going forward. Carlos has let the nerves cool down.

I agree that the forwards/centers looked far ahead of the guards tonight - on both offense and defense. Very happy we have Davis, who had a massive game tonight. He's giving off Paul Harris vibes thus far.

I'm sure their offense will look good throughout the year, but we have to figure out what to do with JJ and Bell on defense. It's a mystery why these two athletic guys can't stay in front of less athletic opponents. And then there is the issue of Bell's rebounding - he had 1 tonight.

Rebounding was not an issue tonight. I will not subject myself to rewatching that game but I would swear Bell had more than one rebound if not a full handful.

Watching Davis and Freeman go after rebounds with authority was a welcome change. That's why we need Freeman to work closer to the basket. He's going to get tons of offensive rebounds and put backs. Lampkin will be good on the defensive boards, but don't think he has the hops to get many on the other end.

Carlos is likely feeling his way through the transition to high-level hoops on a new team. I know LeMoyne isn't particularly high-level, per se, but I would imagine there's an adjustment period. Not sure he'll be a big scorer, but I still feel good about him contributing on a solid level.

Was surprised Starling didn't get himself some looks in the mid-range. He has that shot in his bag.

How could u like that? There are zero shot blockers or rim protectors. The only one on the entire team is naheem lol...

biggest problem with the bigs (other than poor mtm defense were as follows:

Lampkin: would have been the 7/8 from the floor, if he just brought down rebounds and put them back. Rather than control the ball and put it back, he missed two tip ins right at the rim that were easy finishes, especially against a small team. A veteran should be automatic on that play.
also slow and help defense, of course.

Freeman: plays too high and flat footed on D, but his major flaw was rotational help defense. He picked up zero fouls and was nowhere near a contested play at the rim. If he wants to be a one and done, his defense has to improve dramatically. Still not sure if it’s effort or ability.

Davis: missed a couple crucial closeouts, (where he was not screened), one in crunch time where he did not defend a three.

Petar: looked a little nervous out there. It was forcing a few things.

The good news is, if we do not have someone doing their job on this team, they will sit. The should encourage people to play just a little bit harder.

I think Freeman is a step slow because he's thinking too much. Even by the end of the game he started rotating a bit better.

Red went with the big man and the hot hand, so Freeman sat at the end, but he looked like he was starting to get help defense.

It wasn't like he wasn't trying, he just want getting there until way too late.
