Fran being interviewed on ACC huddle

Honestly as a older guy i agree. Hand ball to Ref, no bullshit or backtalking. Dumbshit drives me nuts.

As what likely now qualifies me as an “older guy” (although I am not entirely happy about it..) - I grew up watching Gen X-style trashing talking and celebrating from the 80’s Miami Hurricanes, the Mets, the Chicago Bears, etc. I’ve got no issue with most on field celebrations - so I can’t agree with the “hand the ball to the refs” sentiment. That ship sailed 40+ years ago, and my generation are the ones who captained it out to sea.

I do have an issue with arguing with refs, yapping at fans, and the on-field mental breakdowns we see when this team has what should be a comfortable lead. The New York Mets mantra in 1986 for road trips was “we’re gonna kick your a$$, drink your beer, and sleep with your women”. Our problem isn’t that this team has that attitude - it’s that they forget that the first part is mandatory and MUST be completed first.

Dino went YEARS without even speaking to the OLine. He went down ONCE before the Cav firing,(never again) and every single guy was What is going on?

Fran sits down with a couple dozen guys a week. This is the way.

To be fair to Dino, you probably shouldn’t be yelling at guys that you’re too lazy to have already built a personal relationship with (so they trust you) - so at least his never yelling at people was a good call from that perspective.

Fran mentioned (paraphrasing) around the time of the culture buy-in comments, that the penalty for late substitution was because the player wasn’t hustling off the field. I think it was (Sparrow #12)?

I’d have who ever that was run sideline to sideline all practice.

Yes it was Sparrow you can see him slowing down the last 5-6 steps for some unknown reason.
Might be why he is seeing little playing time this year because he is not bought in (no knowledge of the fact just guessing)

I can’t stress enough how hard it is to win and to win consistently. half the battle is getting kids to learn how to win and to know how to win. You can’t just show up and you can’t take a play off, you have to bring it every second of every rep. kids I’ve been around who win play this way and kids I’ve been around who don’t win take plays off. It’s a mindset. I kid you not but we evaluate how hard kids run off the field when they’re subbing. I can understand Frans ire for that play.
I've noticed on more than one occasion our guys loafing when coming off the field during a substitution. Happened Saturday night. I was screaming from the upper deck to get off the field, and he barely made it before the snap. That's just laziness winning out over self-discipline. And don't give me any nonsense about fatigue. You suck it up for the 25 yard run to the sideline.
