Fran Brown Tells All

Said he doesn’t even know if “toosi” will actually walk on because we are getting more players on team.
Called it. Was obviously just a publicity stunt.

Which is why I never got upset the way people did on Twitter. Even if he does come here, it’s a walk on spot (Fran confirmed that in the interview) and if he doesn’t, a lot of music/rap social media and media sites talked about Syracuse football for two weeks right before signing day and the portal period.

Fabulous interview. You can tell what he learned from last year; he even says it was a blessing in that it revealed some stuff that needed to change.

He is ruthless when it comes to staffing and the roster!

Some guys were clearly shown the door for academics.

Offseason advice from Saban and Coughlin, nice.

Odom is apparently early in the football learning curve, coming from a basketball background. And Angeli is the team leader, even while rehabbing. So many good tidbits.
I think he's adjusting and learning. I've heard some anecdotes even around scheduling and how he is approaching certain aspects of the offseason. I wouldnt be surprised if some of that stuff comes from guys like Coughlin who had to go through that same self reflection as well.

Candidly, I'm sort of fine that we collapsed because it meant getting rid of Erob and improving the defensive staff. I worry 6/7 wins would have meant rolling back the same staff, but we wouldn't have reached the next level on defense.

Also interesting with Cook, Gill, and Smith ending up at Ole Miss and Fran bringing up his that he has a long term friendship with Pete Golding. Especially with Michael Smith, I wonder if Fran agreed to release him in order to stay in the south, but under the condition he goes to Ole Miss. I think Fran genuinely cares and if his players need to leave for various reasons and are on good personal terms that he prefers them to go to situations where he trusts they will be taken care of.
zero chance this would have happened if kiffin was still there, at least with Smith. Kiffin has tried to poach a lot of our guys.

Great interview
This was perfect timing by Steve Infante for this interview with Coach Fran , I feel coach Fran answered a lot of questions that we were all very concerned about. I am looking forward for spring ball and the spring game. Hopefully the basketball team can get it together so we can have some excitement for the rest of this long, freezing cold winter.

Hey that's cool but I still hope Ole Miss loses every game next season. They also poached another kid who was signed at a different school. Forget who but they were talking about it on college sports radio yesterday. Ole Miss comes across as being more shady now than they were with Kiffin

The freshman linebacker at CAL that transferred to Clemson, he got poached before he signed with Clemson.

Yeah I only listened to it once but something in the Smith part caught my ear. He mentioned something about coming to agreement in regard to releasing Smith and I was thinking that maybe there was a financial transaction (buyout) that may have made it ok for all parties.

When not hindered by injury and healthy, Perry played stout at the line not getting pushed back and on pass rush situations was able at times to collapse the pocket. Not all of his value is represented by sack stats.
Perry is our 1 guy we got. Hoping to pair him with another guy that teams need to gameplan for.

What can people expect differently out of you as a head coach?

Fran: “To have another quarterback ready”

Burst out laughing at that, but love that he owns it and he’s not shy to admit that!

...after all the BS about 1% or less degrees of separation between Steve and Ricky in the the QB "battle" for the starting job...
