Fran's Game 11 Press Conference | UConn

Brown mentions UConn's plethora of running backs, with three over 500 yards.

Brown said he's proud of his team's ability to play complimentary football against Cal.

Brown said Dennis Jaquez Jr. will be back. Bellamy is also working his way back.

Meeks just got the wind knocked out of him.

Brown on NIL’s impact in college football: “NIL has allowed us to have one of the best quarterbacks in the country.. When you’re in an industry that generates so much revenue, why shouldn’t the athletes benefit from that?”

Brown said his decisions to go for it on fourth down multiple times says he trusts the offense but also the defense. The complimentary football aspect is very important.

Brown said Jackson Kennedy "saved us" with his success in the kicking game.

Brown said it would be great if one of his coordinators gets the job at Temple or any other school. He said opportunities will open up at the Power Four level with more success at SU. He said their focus is staying at Syracuse as of now and the final two games ahead.

Ahead of senior day, Brown said he loves his senior group. They've helped carve him into the coach he's been this year.

I loved hearing Fran talk about how they’re teaching these guys how to handle their NIL money. 60/40. They have to save some of it and not just spend it. Talking about seniors getting their resumes ready and they will have a job by August after they graduate. Moms and dads want to hear this. David O being a redshirt freshman and will graduate next spring. That’s the kind of PR a university wants to hear and get out there. Kyle knowing Fran “has his back” means the world to Kyle after what happened at Ohio State. Great press conference today and didn’t talk that much about football. This guys a gem.

yup. he knows that for every NFL kid, most dont make it and those soft skills are how they end up being good men and fathers post playing career. And honestly, they become loyal alums too who give back. But he ultimately cares about them being good men. He's very genuine about that stuff.

He makes the pitch to alums that if you can't give us money, you can help by also connecting our players with jobs post playing days, too. There are lots of ways to help and it's not just money.

That shows both coaches are smart. Temple is a dead end job. Remember they got kicked out of the old Big East, and that doesn't happen to many schools.
They're in a tough position as it is. The AAC money and their bad deal with the Eagles for stadium rental pushes them so far behind. And with NIL it's even tougher. Pre NIL a guy like Fran or Nixon could recruit there.

I have to give credit to Fran for not firing Vallano. Things are improving every week. I probably wouldn’t have been as patient.

I watched all three kickers before VaTech and Jackson is the only one who consistently gets the ball to go end over end. Brady hits some real knuckleballs. Oh has a fade way too often. I really wonder why it took so long to get to Kennedy. I am not being snide I generally wonder. Did they make an adjustment to his kicking or did he have low confidence in the beginning. Really a great story. Would love to see an in-depth interview from him.

Was it a dead end job when Golden, the Dazzler and Ruhle were crushing it?

Brady has the leg in warm ups from 55+. Just way too inconsistent.

Kennedy was second team all Ivy League while at Cornell both years as a placekicker
so I think he has plenty of confidence
he also was second team all Ivy League as a punter in his last season, doing all kicking duties.

his longest made field goal was 46 yards, longest punt 81 yards.

He joined SU as a walk on, my guess is he had to significantly beat out the scholarship kickers to get playing time.

Coaches make mistakes all the time. They obviously made a mistake in choosing the place kicker
