If there are more guys playing both ways, it’s gotta be either a backup OL playing on d line or someone on O playing LB. Those are the positions we’re weak at.

I didn’t see Samuels play offense at all. Not sure how many Tremble got in total on D but I do remember watching him specifically on three straight snaps when Tennessee was by the goal line cause I was so shocked he was out there. Got absolutely blown off the line on those reps, but not like others were much better. Hope he can make an impact going forward.

I will say tho DJ.. I’m surprised about Pringle not starting personally. Mack has been a pleasant surprise at LT, I thought he really held his own against Tennessee

Yup, one of the things that really strikes me about Fran is everytime I hear him talk, it always revolves around some sort of first principles thinking rather than commonly accepted tropes.

I got a guy who is 6'4", 225, hits 22mph, has a 39 inch vert and laser timed 4.5 forty. When you have a freak like that, you find a way to get him on the field.

He really doesn't overcomplicate things.

How can he handle both positions? "He's been in the offense two years and there's only really one responsibility as the SAM". I am surprised Fran didn't tell Chris he's not being asked to learn quantum physics.

Fran is sick to his stomach about the Tennessee game and it’s honestly because I think he believes we are significantly better right now than what we showed on Saturday. Fran has the competitive edge of a champion.

Or maybe he is sick like Tony Soprano was.

I remember Tebucky Jones played offense when he first came to SU and was switched to defense. Worked out pretty good for him.

If 2 of our 3 safeties were as good as Darius and Jones we win that game yesterday by double digits. They would have been helping offensive players on Tennessee to the locker room the entire game.

Ray Lewis always said tackling is about desire. At this point the only fix is getting better players on defense who can shed blocks and aren't scared to tackle. Fran even said it may be fear related.

This year the defense has installed more situational packages.

When use a SAM LB we are probably going a little bigger and using a third LB, thus putting us in a 4-3 or 3-3 scheme.

We also played a lot of nickle against Tennessee as an adjustment to their passing game and no huddle. Kerr was the nickle (3rd corner) in place of the Star.

It’s going to be interesting to see this defense evolve.

It really is hard to fathom how a team has struggled to find Pass rush guys for such an extended time. We cant even find a LB with some twitch to use as pass only guy. We might be better just going with like 8 DBs and try to run around the tackles.
