Fran's Game 7 Press Conference | Pitt

Yup and I think thats why so many are talking about this in the Syracuse world.

Its not that I really think he is going to PSU. However, the way he answered did not make me feel warm and fuzzy if another perceived "bigger school" comes along that Fran wont bolt. And that is okay, it does not make him a bad person or anything but just the reality.

We also could be WAY reading into this at this point.

syracusefan? overreacting? get out of town!

I'm surprised Narduzzi's name hasn't been mentioned. He would be a solid hire for them.
This 100%. I’m shocked this hasn’t been floated more seriously yet. He recruits well and either finds competent coordinators or guides Pitt to good game day planning. Usually. Same geographical region more or less. Ticks those boxes and also who tf wants to coach at Pitt? You can have a stellar year and still toil in obscurity

It is highly likely he ends up at penn st.. For a jersey kid, Penn St. might be his dream job because rutgers sux so bad. I think we might have to start processing that we might lose him. The way he reacted to the question about the job was not a good sign. Once Penn st. reviews all potential suiters they will realize how awsome Fran is just like Wildhack did. We are in a very dangerous spot now fellas. That the reality.
That the reality indeed.

I'll take the opposite end of this bet. I have zero concern with him going to Penn State. After he got hired, I heard him during an initial conversation with some donors and he made it clear that he had an axe to grind with Penn State. I think it has to do with him going head to head against them for most of his career recruiting but also being a Jersey kid overlooked by the traditional power in the northeast. I think he really wants to take down Penn State. I also don't think he wants to live in bumble PA, but that's more of a guess.

I think this is all moot because Penn State is going after much bigger targets but even if they wanted Fran, I think he'd simply leverage to renegotiate a bigger deal here. Entering the year, I was far more concerned with Maryland suffering and making a change -- that's where the Big Ten resources scare me. Urban school. East coast. Core recruiting area. Etc. Checks a lot of boxes.

Doomed

It's just hard to sell a fanbase that you have a $50M buyout to get Narduzzi who hasn't done it.

Smells like a move to get Ruhle (crazy relationship dynamics) or someone super proven. A coach that has never sniffed the college football playoff doesn't sound reasonable.
Narduzzi isn’t getting that job. Neither is Brown.

Maryland is an interesting one, they really should be much better than they are as a Big Ten program in the DMV. Syracuse does have an advantage of that I think we have the more storied history and tradition, which I do think matters to Fran to some extent when it comes to engaging football alumni. Maryland could be like Indiana though, if they get the right guy and decide they want to be invested, they could rival what Indiana is doing. I think Penn State is vastly overrating what they are and that is tough to do when they are unequivocally a top 15 program, but they are not at the level Ohio State where they are pretty much immune from some of the lower to middle Big Ten programs threatening their positioning in the Big Ten if they decide to go all in.

good info, i hope this is true. I dont worry about Maryland much, their stadium and atmosphere are horrible.

I did. Emily was terrible. Not because she’s a woman. I had some interactions with her that made you really wonder. She was often clueless. Perhaps Javon doesn’t phrase his questions properly at times, but he’s on the right path. Fran needs a little help with his responses to questions. He’s still very raw in that area..

I listened to Emily frequently on Axe’s podcast last season and I thought she was OK. Not great, but fine.

Meanwhile every Javon appearance on his pod has been painful.

It’s all personal preference. But I don’t see Javon heading off to cover an NFL team anytime soon.

To me it feels like it comes down to Rhule or O'Brien.
Unless they can pry a top 5 coach away, which I doubt.
