Fran's Game 8 Press Conference | Ga Tech

"We're excited to go compete against a top ten team. It should be fun. Doesn't get any better than this." Coach Brown on the chance to face the 7th ranked Yellow Jackets.

Brown said Rickie Collins is improving as a leader, but the offense needs to be better at putting points on the board and being more consistent.

"I'm always going to put the best players in the football game. Whoever gives us the best chance to win." Coach Brown when asked about SU's current quarterback situation. Brown also expressed support for current starter Rickie Collins.

"We're going to play to the end. We're going to compete. I think this is when you find out who's a good football coach and who isn't. When you see how the team responds." Coach Brown on what he's learned about his team so far this season.

"I'm actually happy for coach Key. He's worked his butt off to get to where he's at." Coach Brown compliments Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key.

"I think they're a good football team. To be honest, I think they're complete. They do a really good job." Coach Brown on No. seven Georgia Tech.

"Just keep trying. Keep running. Keep running. Keep running." Coach Brown on what SU needs to do to get the run game going.

"We just gotta be able to throw the ball to our guys. Got to recognize the defense faster and throw the ball." Coach Brown when asked what tangible fixes SU QB Rickie Collins needs to make ahead of this weekends matchup with 7th ranked Georgia Tech.

Derek McDonald out for year. Fran Brown said Byron Washington was concussed which is why he missed SU's game Saturday. He said Washington is "day-to-day" now.

IMO arm in CFB is the least important QB intangible. Fran needs to stop being blinded by it.
Yeah perhaps he was little blinded by it when they brought him in. That they could fix all the other things, the mental aspect. But he’s already here and is in a weakened room whic Fran feels at this time that he is the best option. Being blinded by it is bringing in a similar type of player as him that has the elite physical traits with hopes to fix the mental traits. And having that QB originally be your starter or the first backup. Again, our room is that young and undeveloped for this level right now, so we probably have more patience with Rickie than other teams would with more options at QB. I would be surprised, but can’t rule out that he just clicks at any point from now until the rest of the season.

It isn't just a mental thing. He isn't accurate at all. That usually doesn't change much.

He couldn't get us to 100 yards of offense in the first half last game. It is that bad.

He has more INTs (7) than we have combined total points from drives he has led the last three games in the first three Qs (6). These are all time bad type of numbers.

It isn't like he is throwing for 250 a game and leading us to 17 non garbage time points. If it wasn't for the INT last game we would be averaging 0.67 points per Q in the first 3 Qs. That isn't even a FG per game when you extend it out. We could have taken a knee every play and still only scored 6 less points.

Rickie has been insanely bad at leading this O. It shouldn't even be a question. I think Fran not moving on is a red flag.

I’m very skeptical, but the accuracy is directly tied to the mental aspect of the game. I don’t know if the mental aspect is fixable.
