Freshmen who may play immediately

Heading into the last month of practice, we can begin to make somewhat educated guesses on which true freshman see meaningful time. Who do you think? We can update come game week.

Wallace
Howard
Queeley

I put Queeley ahead of Harris and Hendrix as from what I’ve seen he’s the most ready, at this time, to acclomate to this offense.

I hope we’re able to redshirt most of this class because they’re very talented imo.

Howard seems very impressive, hope he pushes Pierre in practice.

Size and talent with Tre and Juan could push the lighter talent in Fagan, Trotter, as well as Richards if he doesnt make a jump.

Cisco, Trill and Jonas highlight this class from what I see. Takes a struggling backfield and raises it the best player in NY, and two proven studs. Each has size and skill. I hope Jonas redshirts to fully recover and make a leap in 2019/2020z

I’ve heard Jonas may be the most talented of the 3, but I wasnt sure how far along recovering he was once he hit spring workouts.

Trill looks like a man child already out there I’m very excited.

Not sure what direction our offense is taking with the slot and outside receivers. Whether we jam size inside and over the middle in the slot position and choose speed on the outside or not. I agree with many here and think Lutz is capable of early pt but I need to see how our offense lines up first I guess.

I think our 3 deep at RB is a bit deeper than people give it credit. Rethinking my original post, I hope this unit holds up well to allow Howard to sit back and let the mental obligations of the rb position in babers offense come to him.

I don't see Allison or Wallace playing much if at all. Would be really disappointed in the upperclassmen if that happens.

In my opinion it depends on how battered the upper classmen (who are ready today) get by seasons end. I kind of cringe thinking of 210 pound redshirt fr/sophomores filling in vs Louisville/ND/BC towards end of season.
Wallace and Tre have near acc size as freshman at least.

Yeah, and of those that play, they need to play a lot, none of this only appearing on special teams crap.

That theory has been a dream with such a lack of depth the past few years.

We need to win. And injuries happen all the time. This program has no luxury to stash players to develop as help now is worth more than the 2022 season.

And...one can argue that you can’t make the luxury unless you sacrifice to the realities of the day. Depth issue is real.

I'm fine with that if a guy plays a lot. Looking at the secondary, linebacker and WR, would anybody be surprised if a freshman emerges and plays every game? Maybe even starts.

But rolling dudes out on special teams is dumb. We have plenty of guys that have burned shirts to play specials. Keep them on specials instead of playing new guys.

For some reason I am high on Lutz as well, think he could come right in and make an impact in the slot. Just seems like the perfect guy for that role.

Love Lutz too and think he will separate himself from the wr group this fall. These recievers all know there are basically 4 open positions regardless of what the depth chart states.
