Is Tyler Ennis Still a Proecjted Lottery Pick? (PS; Axe)

The NBA Draft is just about 20 days away.

Here is the latest roundup of where former Syracuse University basketball players Tyler Ennis, Jerami Grant and C.J. Fair stand in the mock draft world.

The highest projection I spotted for Tyler Ennis is No.11 to Denver. The lowest is No.24 to Charlotte.

Jerami Grant's highest projection is No.18 to Phoenix with one mock (Jeff Goodman at ESPN) leaving him out of the first round entirely.

Tyler Ennis Makes the Rounds, Says He is Top PG in Draft (PS; Ditota)

Tyler Ennis was in Los Angeles on Wednesday, working out for the Lakers during his pre-draft campaign to convince teams that he is the best fit for their organizations.

Zach LaVine's stunning 46-inch vertical dominated coverage of the Lakers' workouts. Ennis participated in the morning session with LaVine of UCLA, Gary Harris (Michigan State), Brendan Lane (Pepperdine), Marcus Smart (Oklahoma State) and Noah Vonleh (Indiana).

JG Works Out for Suns, Others in Advance of Draft (PS; Ditota)

Jerami Grant has been a somewhat mysterious figure as he journeys the country to prepare for NBA Draft day.

Grant's agent, B.J. Armstrong, keeps his prospects notoriously close, and only limited information about Grant has trickled out thus far as he works out in anticipation of the Draft. On Wednesday, Grant worked out for the Phoenix Suns (Nos. 14, 18, 27 picks in the Draft) and told reporters there he had made previous stops in Chicago (19) and Minnesota (13) and had planned to visit Houston (25) today and Utah (5, 23) on Saturday.

SU Basketball Strengthens 2015 Class with Latest Commit (The Juice; Cheng)

With spring football a distant memory and the NCAA Lacrosse Final Four (better luck next year, Syracuse fans) in the books, this is a pretty dead time of year in college sports. Yes, the NBA Draft provides a modicum of excitement as teams select the college stars of the past season, but it also conjures up a whole lot of “what ifs” watching college underclassmen form an assembly line to shake Adam Silver’s hand while desperately trying to bend the rim of a brand new Milwaukee Bucks hat. Best of luck, Tyler Ennis and Jerami Grant. So what’s left for the diehards to get excited for? Recruiting, of course!

Recruiting is the life blood of any successful program. No matter how brilliant a coach is when it comes to Exes and Ohs, he needs talented players to execute. Jim Boeheim declared that he didn’t feel any smarter upon winning the 2003 NCAA Championship after decades of chasing that elusive six-game March winning streak. Boeheim’s trick that Monday evening 11 years ago in New Orleans was anything but magic. Carmelo Anthony, Gerry McNamara and Hakim Warrick all suited up for him. That’s usually how it works: the best players tend to play their best in the biggest moments. And Boeheim is no slouch when it comes to convincing the most talented players in the country to don the color orange.

Scoop Jardine Journeys Back to Basketball After 2 Years of Injuries (PS; Ditota)

Scoop Jardine could not catch the right kind of break.

The former Syracuse University guard broke his foot working out for the Utah Jazz before the 2012 NBA Draft. He underwent two surgeries to repair the damage and spent a year rehabilitating the injury, immersing himself in business endeavors as diverse as TV commentary and real estate. All the while, he longed to return to basketball.

A professional team in Croatia provided that opportunity last fall, so Jardine moved to Zadar on Croatia's gorgeous Adriatic coast. Within two months, a nagging soreness surfaced in his knee.
