FSU vs The ACC

Our board's version of OX posted an item today that states "The amended agreement allows schools to leave for a football-only conference at half the usual exit fee -- $75 million or 50% of the standard penalty, whichever is greater -- if six or more members exit together."

I exist in the Mirror Universe?

Cool.

That being said... if we get to 4-0 this year... I would say that the University would be wise to lock Brown up with a contract that would make Jimbo Fisher blush.
Yes a $5 Billion buyout might be big enough to scare away poachers.

Thanks, Hoo's.

Most, if not all, of the article has been discussed here, and presumably other fan sites. The comments by Petitti, Sankey, and Bowlsby are telling. Neither the B1G nor the SEC see any advantage in moving forward, they are better off holding out as long as they can until others catch up, make as much money while you can before you are forced into pro-style arrangement. (Discussed on this site extensively) Bowlsby plainly stating that if the number of a super league is too small, former powers will be diminished, which will affect other revenue streams, though they my get an increase in TV revenue.

The fact that private equity is demanding up to 30% of revenues is indicative that the money will not come from profiteers. That is 30% off the top, before expenses are deducted. Think that a school pulling in $100MM in revenue will pay $30MM to a PE firm and them pay their bills from the remaining $70MM. Can PE ensure enough revenue bump to pay the 30%? Probably not. FSU found out the hard way that PE plays for keeps (keeping profits high, anyway). FSU made a show of their initial discussions with PE and then was largely silent once they saw the numbers and requirements.

The best plan forward for SU (and UVA, other ACC Schools) is to improve football, beat the SEC and B1G on the gridiron (and to a lesser extent, the hardwood court).

I think we may have a inter-conference matchup between FSU and Rutgers to see who can lose the most players preseason. If I gambled, my money would lean towards Rutgers based on their experience but if anyone can put Shady back a notch, Norvell may be the one.

Well RU is up 3-1

Two points:

1) Additional support to conclude Norvell has lost the locker room.
2) I think the Shady/Norvell competition to see who can chase off more players preseason is 3/2. This makes one wonder is the casinos have started taking bets on this. (Not a gambler, wouldn't know here to start looking. Don't care. Though, it would be interesting to see what their take is.)

Tony says it takes at least a season and a half to get his 3-3-5 defense installed and working well.

Not sure Norvell has enough time to see this through.

Glad Tony is making bank before the inevitable happens…..
They really liked him at Nebraska, I get that he wanted the phat cash but seems like Nebraska would be competitive in that way. Oh well, as long as the checks don’t bounce as they say

...and that assumes a normal locker room, not a locker room set adrift by the HC. Part of me wants TW to succeed and the other part wants Norvell and the AD to fall as far as possible.

I'm in the same place. But, TW walked in to this situation with knowledge. I want FSU to implode. On the other hand, I want them to continue this misery. Their next hire might be good, so a prolonged Norvell misery would be fun.

Want him to stay at least 3 more years, by then Fran will have Syracuse top 2 in the ACC, and we will be along with Clemson the teams looking to relocate.

If FSU imploads too early I wouldn't be surprised if White isn't named interm HC.

Well, at least that's better/more committal than his 'ol boss' "year 3 game 4" malarkey. ;)
