i think i speak for all of us when i say thanks for all of the work you put in - you have filled in for OrangeEyes very well and done him proud.

I remember when OrangeEyes thought no one looked at his daily articles and was thinking of shutting them down and then everyone chirped in and he realized how impactful those actually were and kept going. i believe thats when we added the like button or view count.

you have a thankless job - but an impactful 1. i took the comment above as funny because the football team did a stinker on saturday. not an actual jab at you.

Because, as I believe upperdeck alluded to, they don't call it right on the field.

Should have been personal foul, unnecessary roughness on defenseless player, with targeting. You want to take the targeting part away after the review, whatever (don't agree with it), but the personal foul for unnecessary roughness isn't reviewable.

I think that was the ref's intent who threw the flag, but they just screwed up how they called it. Maybe they're not allowed to call it like that anymore, but I know they used to when this targeting sensation began.

That first INT, ouch. The Duke safety was clearly coached to go wherever the eyes of that new QB take you. Any look off of that guy and the entire other side of the field stays open.

Collins' first INT was a tipped ball (out of his hand). I've seen this only reference once on this forum. There is a reason that they pass was so easily intercepted.

that first INT was going to be a touchdown but it got tipped from the end coming around the corner

the safety who picked it was running right along the 15 yard line and JRS was on a go

if that ball isn't tipped, the safety is now on an awkward angle and it's essentially a 50/50 ball with JRS. I'll take that all day

I don't love the eyes being dead set on JRS and Rickie will learn, but man the first few series on both sides of the ball could have completely changed the outcome

IMHO, Nixon and his offensive staff should've recognized this and then called some plays (or given explicit instructions) to look off the safety and then throw it to the other side.

Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, maybe Collins can't do that idk, but it was plain obvious during the game we needed to do this.

Is there a screenshot floating around of that? I was at the game and they replayed it and it didn't look tipped, it just looked like a horrible pass. The ball didn't travel like it was tipped either. By that I mean it traveled pretty far down field and I don't recall it flying like a duck into the secondary. Doesn't mean that there wasn't a tip but it didn't look it and there was no chatter around me it was tipped.

Thanks Bayside. So if our LT whiffed and it forced Collins to alter arm angle and release point, that would make sense in the ball still traveling that far downfield but off target. If that's the case Collins hopefully was counseled in film review on how to handle (learning experience). While additional blame to oline and how did Mack completely miss?

Funny because I was focusing on the RT getting burned and thought maybe that guy tipped the ball or caught Rickie's arm.

Both tackles were abused on that play with simple outside rushes. Not good.

I don’t think it was tipped or that his arm was hit. He was under pressure and didn’t get a good throw off. If that didn’t happen maybe the throw beats the safety there. The play seemed like a copy of the Colgate INT.
