I would like a holographic image I can walk through.I would like a 3D walk through presentation of the (new) Dome. Thanks in advance.
CAMPUS LANDSCAPE PROJECTS
Three proposed promenades provide the organizational structure for the campus. They provide structure for future campus growth and development, ensuring that new buildings and renovations contribute to a campus realm characterized by design excellence. The promenades also contribute to the quality of the civic realm by enhancing the campus landscape and creating space for connection, collaboration, and socializing.

Today’s underutilized streetscape will be transformed into a vibrant urban promenade through gracious landscape design ...
So the Dome proposals are being done by a different firm than the one that created this document. There is limited expectation of interaction and there is no way one firm would let the other lock them in. That Dome is very non-descript. You can only look at it for the academic corridor that is being proposed. The rendering is looking at the quad from the "West Campus". I think this is only proposing the blown out glass enclosed concours on the north side. It would connect to Archbold (the Arch) on the far side, but probably ends at the east side, where I believe they will add on some as a means to getting up and down that hill to make an interior connection from West Campus up to the academic corridor.
Also having just been there Sunday, I don't see the space available that they show in the rendering. There is more than a little artist's license being taken there.
I think this rendering illustrates a quad sans physics building. That will open up space. Also having just been there Sunday, I don't see the space available that they show in the rendering. There is more than a little artist's license being taken there.
You are not wrong, this assumes there is no Physics building and the old law building (Faulk now?) auditorium is gone as well. I still struggle to see how there is that much space between the Dome and Steele or Heroy Geology. Could just be my perception.I think this rendering illustrates a quad sans physics building. That will open up space.
Edit, my fault, wrong side of the the dome.
The document makes a reference to a "boutique hotel".Also heard Hotel might still be an option as I heard who might have gotten the mechanicals on it.Down the road in phases.
i'm happy south campus will go away. terrible apartments too far way. i wonder what they will do with all that land.
It's confusing with all the different renderings. The elevations "leaked" a few weeks ago looked more open with the glass sections. Also having just been there Sunday, I don't see the space available that they show in the rendering. There is more than a little artist's license being taken there.
no one has to look at flint except people who for some insane reason want to live up thereIt's confusing with all the different renderings. The elevations "leaked" a few weeks ago looked more open with the glass sections.
I've just started glancing through the CMP ... quite a bit to digest. But it's very exciting. Personally, I think Flint Hall (brutalist style) sticks out as especially unsightly for a student dorm. I don't think "paint" is going to do the trick there.
How about just wait for the university to roll it out. If you ignore everything else, you will probably be ok.What a crap fest this "roll out" has turned out to be. A few leaks here. Speculation from the informed as well as the ill-informed over there. Premature release of conceptual renderings (cue Coach Boeheim). Some hints dropped by those who truly are insiders.
I had been hoping for a well orchestrated public relations campaign, culminating in a grand unveiling of the New (whateveritscalled) Dome by the Chancellor, that would receive not just local but national coverage. This could have been a golden opportunity for SU to steal the spotlight in a positive manner, in such a way as to ramp up so far anemic recruiting results (I am NOT criticizing the effort). Instead it looks like the same old same old for Syracuse.
That's my take for now or my name isn't Bowie. I truly hope I'll be proved wrong.
