Totally agree. As far as I'm concerned body control, route running, and hands are far more important than elite speed.I used to be in the "WR need to be fast" camp but now I think that speed is probably one of the more overrated qualities for WR. Anquan Boldin, Jerry Rice, Larry Fitzgerald, all "lacked a pure #1 speed". His body control, route running, and hands are enough to establish him as a #1. Plus, he sure didn't look like he lacked speed running away from that wake defender on that 50 yard TD. He's a young WR getting balls thrown to him by a committee of below average QB's (last year) and a true freshman (this year). Dungey's Jr. and Ish's senior year... Teams will be scared of Ish. Book it.
I agree we have upgraded our talent in several units, and look to be on the upswing.
So, wouldn't fans at Wake say similar things about their 2016 offense? True soph at QB, 3 frosh WRs who each had 5 catches against us, frosh RB who looked like a good match for Fredericks, 2 RS- already starters at OTs, soph TE who was an all-league pick (2nd team).
So, if Wake finds some replacements on defense, the bottom dwellers rock next season. Maybe so.
