FYI...Melo with 30, 5 mins left in the 2nd!!

I called home during the game and my mom asked me "do you see what Carmelo is doing to those poor Bobcats?" Sean Keeley wrote a book about turning your children into Syracuse fans, but I've done the exact opposite. I'm so proud of her right now.

Wow, wow, and wow. Just watched it (needed to watch post-game before coming to the board). Best Knick performance that I have EVER seen live or on TV (watched this on TV), and I had season tickets for 18 years! (know all about Clyde's game 7 in 1970, but way before my time as a Knick fan). That was SO enjoyable to watch. Kudos to Coach Woody, considering they were up 30 or so in the 4th. And how cool was it that Melo broke his idol Bernard King's record (60)?? Wow (again)!

If there was ever anything to jump start this team...

How coincidental that he and the team go berserk when they go back to the small ball that propelled last year...

http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=400489513

62 points + 13 rebounds + 0 assists, (why would he pass it?), + 0 steals and 0 blocks, (defense, what's that?) = 75 positives

12 missed field goals, (23 for 35) + 0 missed free throws (10 for 10) + 0 turnovers, (he didn't pass it) + 1 personal foul = 13 negatives

75-13 = 62 net points in 39 minutes. over 48 minutes it would have been 76.

Light's out, baby.

NY Times excerpt...

The Bobcats had no answers, nobody they could use to stop Anthony’s torrid stroke, nothing they could do to funnel the ball out of his grip. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Josh McRoberts and Anthony Tolliver were yield signs on Anthony’s one-lane highway to Knicks history.

When his night was over, with 7:18 remaining, Anthony had set a franchise scoring record (62 points), breaking the mark of 60 set by Bernard King on Christmas Day 1984. He also broke Kobe Bryant’s record for points scored (61) at the Garden, which opened in 1968. It was the highest single-game total in the N.B.A. since 2007

Take a bow my friend, just noticed your timestamp---incredible call as early as 8:29pm (after a 7:40pm tip).

And Georgetown still sucks

Only 32 times in NBA history has a player scored more points in a game. And Wilt has over half of those (17).

Pretty impressive display. Most of his shots were contested mid range jumpers.

That's because he is a great player.

44cuse

True, and the bobcats as the opponent helped.

to bad the knicks wont build on this -its just a blip for the worst run franchise on the east coast

I actually kind of agree with Bill Simmons, only 5 players ever have scored 70. Melo would've easily gotten there if he stayed in. I fully realize everyone would've slammed them for leaving him in but I mean...only 5 people ever!

They should've left him in. This is likely the only positive thing that will happen to that franchise this entire season. Leave him in, and let him keep going. Why not?

The Knicks never get it right.

He was clearly gassed after getting to 62 (before getting there, actually). Sure, leave him in there and risk injury, the rest of the season be damned.
