Class of 2025 G Bonnie Deas (Australia) Portal from Arkansas

She fits the profile of the players we like. We have done well by Australian players. She averaged almost a double double in points and rebounds as a guard as a freshman in the SEC. Syracuse would be a good landing spot for her.cWe need guards.

We recruited her hard last year. She was Coached by Steph Reid, who played for coach JacK at Buffalo, so, there is an affinity and relationship there. We need to put the full court press on and sign her when the portal opens!! I really love her game...and I think coach Jack does too. She would be a great addition to our team...Come on, a guard, who can get in the lane, shoot the three, and rebounds at a 9 rebounds/game clip..in the SEC!!! She is our kind of player...We missed her the first time around...Don't miss this time!!!

Hopefully we have the nil resources to get her.

She is an interesting player.

Her efficiency shooting was really bad. 32% FG is close to the worse I have seen. 24.5% from 3.

That said, Arkansas was really bad and it looks like she took a lot of low percentage shots because they struggled to execute on offense. Guessing her effiency would improve on a better team.

On the positive side, she led the team in rebounding (at 9 rpg) by a large margin. Led the team in steals and tied for the team lead in assists. Her assist to turnover ratio was about 1:1 which for. Arkansas was good. Looks like she can play defense too.

Leading the team in rebounding as a 5’9 frosh guard is crazy.

I noticed the same thing. Tough to analyze but what’s there isn’t very good except for her rebounding numbers. However as Tomcat said she may have tried to do too much because Arkansas had such a poor record (12- 20 overall and last in conference at 1-15) .

I agree, she is an interesting player. It is her defensive ability that makes her so interesting and her rebounding! We need a gritty, tough defensive minded player. In the ACC, in order to be a top team, you have to be able to defend and stop teams from scoring! She will not be the total answer, I think we need a ball dominant, player that can create her own shot, and get us 15-20 points per game, but she would be a nice addition to the mix...

We recruited her hard last year. I think because of the relationship Coach Jack has with Steph Reid, her former coach and fellow Aussie, If Reid says she can play, then we will push hard for her services.

Again, for the 1,000 time. She is from Australia. Foreign players can not get NIL $ only revenue sharing.
Calm down, I think most people misunderstand the meaning of NIL...and they use it generically, to mean athlete compensation. So, take out the word NIL and substitute if for athlete compensation, and the statements are correct.

OK, Watching TCU play and win big. They are a prime example of what having financial resources to pay athletes can do for the success of a program. Their team is made up of some high quality portal transfers, starting with Olivia Miles. How do you get an Olivia Miles...or a Hailey van Lithe to transfer to your school...Money. Imagine if Olivia transferred from Notre Dame to Syracuse!!! TCU has a 6-8 freshman on the bench from Virginia, who made an official visit to Syracuse before choosing TCU. I looked at the all defensive team for the SEC, 2/5 players on the first team are from Upstate New York and one member of the all freshman team, is also from Upstate NY. I hope we all realize that we are handicapped from a financial standpoint compared to our competition and the results we see go beyond who the coach is. Coach Jack is a very good coach and a evaluator of talent....but we are missing out on most of the top level players we recruit based on our ability to compensate them. I sure hope this promised uptick in financial support comes to fruition..

they can get NIL. But it cant not be NIL for things in the US
Correct. But right now leaving and trying to re-enter the US on a student visa is risky. Even Australia. It took a while to get Maddy Potts her visa and she was delayed getting to SU.

I know But nothing is stopping a car dealer in Melbourne from paying him them. Not sure if they agree the fake value of NIL for someone playing in the US college system is . Same issue for the college hockey players, "Hi I play hockey for Augustana, buy a car from your local Honda dealer."

So I just researched this. They can get passive NIL, such as selling tshirts with their name. If it is work related, the work has to be performed outside the US. So you could not stream or make a video or something in the US to play in Australia. You can do it while in Australia. So some sort of car endorsement video would need to be done in Australia before they come to the US.
