I think there were more games than you might think that hinged a lot on reds coaching. Defense is easy to point to, how many more wins do you get if you are able to shave 7-8 points off your allowed PPG? Skill factors in here but effort is way more important.

Another is subbing, how much better is the team if red ran with the hot hand in games instead of sticking to a seemingly predetermined rotation?

And then finally, what happens if you run a coherent offense in the last 10 minutes instead of forcing it into JJ and having him play hero ball every night?

As crazy as it is, i think we are underestimating how badly red managed the team.
A center that could actually stop layups, might have given us a few more wins. And Donnie being healthy would have helped.
But that was a bad group of players.

Red was god awful last year I was once of the loudest about it on this board so trust me I don’t disagree, and the roster being that bad partly falls on him to begin with. Regardless it doesn’t change the fact we did not have the quality talent necessary either.

How does he fit?
Our roster doesn’t have anyone over 6’9. Although Donnie looks bigger.

Another poster who has been here 8 years, less than 950 total posts, and only comes here annually to be annoying about recruits. Go find somewhere else to be.
What’s the post minimum for being annoying? Asking for a friend.

Erik Rogers says hello.
Players who actually got playing time, Roger's, was basically a scholarship Walkon.
I think he stayed all 4 years and was basically a practice player. In 5 years he played a total of 196 minutes.

We have three potential all ACC players in Freeman, JJ and George. That’s a pretty good start. We also have several pieces that are good, especially Kingz. This roster is going to be pretty good when it’s completed.
not to mention that kiyan was just mvp of the jordan brand classic...go look at the list of former mvps of that game

almost every single one played in the nba...i dont think this roster has some all acc potential...i think it has multiple nbaers on it (which is always a good marker of a teams potential)

i think people are seriously underestimating kiyans potential to make a serious splash next season

What makes people think he is a depth piece when we fielded half a team of similar caliber players last year.

Specifically?

Nait George, JJ Starling, Nate Kingz, Luke Fennel, and Kyon Anthony.

This guy is clearly #6 on the depth chart. I've seen deep teams before but I'm not sure there are too many teams that give their 6th best guard regular minutes.

Ive never seen this kid play but he's 25 years old, has good size, and that seems like a pretty good start for a practice squad player on a team with 2 freshmen talented enough to contribute right away but could use a grown man to bang with help teach them what D1 physicality is like.

You call it sh***tting on him, I call it having an opinion. Just one you don’t like. These dudes are getting paid. We don’t have to handle them with kid gloves anymore.

All judgements and opinion won’t matter at this point anyway. If Red can put this all together and get us to the tourney nobody will remember what we thought about the Bryce Zephyr signing.
I think Red and staff know more than some keyboard warrior

Amen to that

If you posted any time other than in recruit threads complaining about the recruit, people would take you seriously. I remember you doing this I’m previous years.

Real fans get to complain. Trolls like you seem to only show up to complain.

I guess you’ve never seen me in game threads? I don’t live in the forum like some of you and post every second. But I comment on all sorts of things. I give my opinions. I’m definitely a real fan. Why in the world would I be living in Ky and rooting for a team in Syracuse New York? For the heck of it?
Honestly the “amen” response was just a jab at you for fun. Meant no harm. My sarcasm doesn’t show through text very well.

Fair enough… Maybe I mislabeled you. There are enough of the sort that I decided to start calling them out. My bad

This dude is well traveled and well versed in the various levels of college basketball. From Cali, starts his college career in Florida (JUCO), then Texas (D1), then Utah (JUCO), then Montana (D2) and now New York (D1).

If they look at him as a defensive sub at guard, well, his advanced metrics don't look great. Although Fox's advanced metrics rates his defense better than EvanMaya, he's still only about 4th best on his team.
