Moore leads Hayes
Elijah Moore and
Ian Jackson formed arguably the premier underclassmen tandem in New York City this past season. Moore proved himself to be one of the best shooters in the city, while Jackson is best known for his attacking two-way game. It’s been more of the same this spring as the two have teamed up to lead the New York Wiz Kids on the Adidas Gauntlet.
This weekend though, with Jackson not in attendance, Moore got the chance to slide over and operate with the ball in his hands a bit more, and while he’s still working on developing his playmaking skills, there was still lots to like. Firstly, his jumper is a true weapon, and one that needs very little separation from his defender in order to get off. Secondly, he has a mid-range game and ability to score over top contesting defenders. Third, he has a good left hand, that he can utilize to both score and pass with. In short, there’s lots of room to keep getting better, and yet he’s already one of the best rising juniors in the city.
On the recruiting front, Moore picked up his latest offer from UConn this weekend as the Huskies joined the likes of Seton Hall, Mississippi State, Syracuse, and St. John’s among others.
