He must have gotten negative feedback and thought that he wasn't going to go in the first round. Because, he and his camp did a masterful job of hiding from the scouts, while working on his shooting and only exposing him in controlled settings. Coming back to UK is risky. He will be able to display his athleticism, but he better be a capable shooter or else he will continue to drop.

I think coming back was the right move. He'd have been a second round lottery ticket. He didn't have a first round guarantee. Even if he has a rough year, he might get drafted next year, just based on his athletic ability. If he does get better with his jumper, he'd be a first round pick next year.

They're in the mix almost every year and while they've lost to good teams they're always in a solid position. That tournament is very difficult win, no matter how much talent you have or how good you are it literally takes one off night to end your season.

He can only get by on his athleticism for so long. You can't be a guard at the next level and not be able to shoot from outside of the paint. It is clear he didn't get a guarantee from a front office or he wouldn't have returned.
