Class of 2026 G Jordan Smith Jr. (VA) Offered

It's so ingrained in Duke homerism that I don't think there's actually much there.
The crystal ball is legit, though. Looks like he is taking his OV to Duke on November 11. Might need to get him on campus before that date.

The article isn't clickbait. There's a crystal ball for Duke to land Jordan Smith from Colby G., who is one of the top analysts covering the DMV. Ugh.
It's not nothing, but it's kinda crazy that everyone there touts their 95% accuracy rate, but just because they can change their prediction the day before the commitment when everyone on the inside actually knows. Duke's ALWAYS going to be in a good position because their team does well and they apparently have a limitless nil cap.

I totally agree about the predictions; take them with a grain of salt!

We really need to get a few players drafted in the first round to be able to compete in recruiting the best players. There are some guys we come close to getting and who seem genuinely interested in coming to SU, but I feel that it always comes down to who have we put in the NBA lately?

Lol
Just curious: why is that funny? The article came from a Duke fan site. It's no different than if I write an article on Inside The Loud House, a Syracuse fan site, about similar news.
Curious about this myself. I perceive it to be pretty disrespectful to cuseallday, a trusted and very nice poster. I can't say that I've seen you, Cuse On 3 , to be disrespectful, so what gives?

I think New Balance is just picking off top prospects with the hope they wear their shoes in the NBA.

Smith clearly doesn't need team specific NIL. He'll go where he wants. I agree with many it's probably Duke but I will hold out some hope.

This is a very good point... If he makes enough neutral NIL from national sources, the team NIL matters far less. This could be a good sign for Syracuse or other non Duke teams that can't outbid the Devils on direct compensation.

He's getting paid very well either way, it isn't like any of his teams are broke. But the New Balance thing might not be Duke related.

I find it interesting that his visit will be an unofficial visit. Leads me to think he might come back again during the season.
Based on the convo I had with a source this morning, that's the sense I'm getting as well, too, my friend. If the team is playing well to start the season, and Smitty comes back for an OV, that would be huge. He's not signing early.

That's great news! Just one question, was there an indication that he will be staying for Monday night's game?

It's very interesting with Red because he is clearly on the hot seat, but if Syracuse does what it needs to do this season. Competitive, in the tournament, etc. Red is not only going to be off the hot seat, but seems set up for potentially up to a half of decade of a great talent pipeline that should create consistent success. One could argue that Red's recruiting from High School and most recently as of this last season the portal is starting to rival even Boeheim's best recruiting years. It would be really cool to see Red get that 180 reputational shift from this fan base with good results this season.

That's well said. Totally agree - Red is a great recruiter. So is B Straughn. Just gotta win games on the court and have stability. That will help with guys like Smith and Rippey.
