One to watch here. From Rochester. Would be an immediate starter.
I think dasher or one of the other people in the know said we are interested but not our highest priority or something like that.Did we offer or is there expressed interest?
YesSo this guy shot 29% from 3 point land? Is that accurate?
Yes that's the main thing that people are concerned about. If we already had some great outside shooters, I'd really like him. But we don't.....So this guy shot 29% from 3 point land? Is that accurate?
Yeah other stats looked pretty good.Yes that's the main thing that people are concerned about. If we already had some great outside shooters, I'd really like him. But we don't...
If he was brought in he’d absolutely be the starting point guard. As a non-shooter I think his skills are too similar to JJ so I would go in a different directionWhere would he start? He isn't replacing JJ. He isn't starting at the point and isn't big enough to play a forward?

I agree. If we can get a couple other shooters, I'd love to bring him aboard.Yeah other stats looked pretty good.
All good man. He brings allot no doubt. We are short on sharp shooters though and getting a guy who can at least get us 36% on 3 at the PG would be a big.Say what you want, but he was one of the top 5 guards in the A10 this year, no question. Lightning fast and all around great player.
Council is better than Claude. He doesn’t turn it over and he plays defense. Shooting from deep are poor for both, but he checks 2 of 3 boxes that Claude does not.
Just a question? I’m a longtime fan and may be unduly concerned with the level of hoops recruits SU has shown interest. Could it all be aRed Herring? One can only hope! I’m just a fan no particular expertise, however, I have hadn’t tix and followed SU sports before JB and Dave Bing suited up. SU has had a remarkable record in hoops buoyed by great recruiting and coaching for decades. Last years portal class was sub par to say the least. So far, and it’s early, indications are that interest players do not have the skill sets SU needs. Those skills are as follows drop dead 3pt shooters that can play decent D, a rim protector (may have landed one), a PG who can shooter a adversities wing that can score 3 levels and defend. I hope it’s the Red Herring and all the powers to be are far cagey than I anticipate and have the where with all to compete. If not a re-run of 2024-2025 is imminent. Old man out. Peace

I probably won't watch full games of these guys unless things get more serious with them, but just going off those transfer portal scouting report videos, it feels like Council's handle is relatively poor for a lead guard. I don't think Claude's is great either from the bits I've seen but it does seem better.Council is better than Claude. He doesn’t turn it over and he plays defense. I also think Claude's shooting mechanics are much better, though you could reasonably argue thats actually a good thing for Council because you could maybe rebuild his shot and see improvements, whereas Claude may just not have it in him lol. Council seems like he badly needs someone to coach him on how to shoot a jumper.
good post.Council, Ballard, Kingz and Kyle in the portal plus Donnie, JJ, Petar, Kiyan, Womack, Sadiq, and Fennell. Pickup one more backup less heralded (non p5) big man with potential and another guard of the same and see what we can do. I’d love to see them look at maybe even filling the roster with a couple d2 kids as a flyer as well given we can go to 15. I’ll just caveat to say give me bigger names if we can land them all day long (as some have been tossed out there) but this would be a much better class that makes sense than what we have done in the portal to date and by a wide margin.
That team still has its flaws but has a lot to work with as well as a capable and experienced starting 5 and some shooters to put on the floor who aren’t just one dimensional.
You can forget about improving a person's shooting at this point. Sure, they can make some improvement but not much. The one area that they can improve dramatically is at the foul line as that is a fixed shot and can be honed in. Not much can be done otherwise.I probably won't watch full games of these guys unless things get more serious with them, but just going off those transfer portal scouting report videos, it feels like Council's handle is relatively poor for a lead guard.
