Great overall season, last couple of games not so hot.
I see a couple of reasons for this:
1. He seems to play better at the 3 than he does in the back court.
2. For most of the season, he was patient and let the game come to him. The last couple of games he has been forcing the issue. I think a big part of that has been that Rak has been less dominant in the middle and and the D's have forced our game outside, where Mike has had to try and be the guy with Trevor hurting & slumping. Also, w BJ getting a big chunk of Kaleb's minutes the ball has been more in Mike's hands.
Looking forward, what to expect from him ??
His strengths are that he is a very good slasher, he can run the break, and he can hit the open three. His limitations are that he doesn't have Trevor's quick release on his three, he doesn't see the floor as a true PG, and he needs to be able to take & make more inside the arc js.
I think a big key is that somebody has to be able to run the point. I had been a big Joseph supporter & I had expected him to step up his game in fits and starts as the season progressed. Instead he has regressed. Way to early to give up on the kid, but there is also no way that we can just pencil him in at the point for next season. Howard is a wild card, but hard to imagine a kid transitioning his position can step up from day one to be an impact PG. Likelihood is that G will spend some time at the PG next season.
He will have an opportunity to be the Man next season, but he also has to play to his strength by showing patience on teh court.
