Hey all, Sorry I've been dormant for ... year(s) now? Sorry if this was covered elsewhere, but do we have any idea of these Georgia decommits (Harper, Stubbs)? Just a coincidence? Is this looking to be a trend? Offers pulled because of not fitting the new system? I know Harper wasn't necessarily positionally ideal, but Stubbs is versatile... Maybe they're not feeling the love from HCDB (i.e. HCDB suggested they open up their recruitment) ?

To clarify... I know this could be on the recruiting board. But thought it warranted a discussion about the direction of the program as a whole.

Stubbs also was a positional recruit. He is not a strong enough back to be a RB and not versitile enough to just play outside. Brinson I believe they never told they wouldn't take him just that they weren't ready to take now. Harper as you said was sort of the weakest of the bunch from a fit and skill standpoint. I wouldnt read to much into it yet. IMO

New staff, a few decommits. Nothing that screams out there is a reason to be concerned.

Definitely fine with ruffling some feathers, and and happy to shake out poor fits for the new system. Just struck me as coincidental that 2 commits from one area opened up their recruiting at pretty much the same time... probably just reading a bit too much into the geography of it.

It happens everywhere when you have a big staff change...

According to The Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star (via 2/47Sports), 2016 cornerback Nick Grant decommitted from Virginia a day after the Cavaliers introduced Bronco Mendenhall as their new head coach. Per the report, Grant said Tuesday that he had not heard from UVa since news of Mendenhall’s hiring broke on Friday.

A native of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Grant originally pledged to the Wahoos in April. He is rated the No. 45 senior in his state on the 247Sports Composite.

The timing on these kinds of things seems nuts to me. These kids can't go 72 hours without personal contact from a coach who is moving across the country, doing press conferences and trying to fill out a staff?

I have a feeling Georgia might not me a target area for us for a while, but i could be wrong. Its obviously in ACC country, but Dino made it sound like our efforts woul be the northeast, canada and Florida for the most part.

And from the offers Midwest.

If only we had a coach with recruiting ties to Virginia. Oh wait....:p

i think they might be going for the sure fits during this cycle. long term, I don't see how we can avoid Georgia.

Instant gratification, it's the way of the world with the youth. I have kids that have gotten mad at me for not responding within a matter of minutes to text messages.

I also spoke to a recruit who said the 2nd most important thing to him was that we were sponsored by Nike. Oh Lord

And people on here still think recruits don't pick a school because of uniforms (to some degree).

Second most important reason for picking my seats is how close they are to a beer concession. Each to his own, I guess.
