As has been proven throughout the annals of time, the best way to predict the outcome of this game we call football is to delve into the quality and number of former players drafted by the New York Football Giants. Advanced metrics have shown a strong correlation between the two. They say that 60% of the time, it works every time. So let's take a look at the Boston College Eagles vs the Syracuse Orangemen...
Number of Players Drafted by the Giants
Syracuse- 9
BC- 4
Advantage: Cuse
Highest Drafted Giants Player
Syracuse- 19th overall
BC- 32nd overall
Advantage: Cuse
Offensive Players
Syracuse- Justin Pugh OL (2013 1st Round, 19th overall), Bruce Tarbox OL (1961 2nd Round), Joe Morris RB (1982 2nd), Ryan Nassib QB (2013 4th), David Tyree WR (2003 6th), Bob Yates OL (1960 7th)
BC- Chris Snee OL (2004 2nd Round), Andre Williams RB (2014 4th)
Advantage: Cuse
Snee, the son inlaw of Coughlin, is in the Giants Ring of Honor. He was a two timer (SB Champ) and four timer (Pro Bowl). He also oddly had 6 fumble recoveries in his career.
Williams was a Heisman finalist and won the Doak Walker award. But he never panned out with the G-Men. Also he is no Diamond Ferri. Williams last game as a SR was at Syracuse. He had 2073 rushing yards going into the game and only rushed for 29 yards. That is Bizarro Ferri.
Defensive Players
Syracuse- Will Allen DB (2001 1st Round), Jay Bromley DL (2014 3rd), Jerry Kimmel LB (1986 10th)
BC- Mathias Kiwanuka DL (2006 1st Round), Art Donovan DL (1947 22nd)
Advantage: Cuse
The Giants should have known Kiwankuka would be a bust based off of not being able to stop Diamond Ferri.
Art Donovan was a treasure. The Bronx native was originally going to Notre Dame but left to fight in WWII. He ended up at BC. Too bad the eventual HoFer never played for the Giants. Instead he was on the opposite sideline for the Greatest Game Ever Played.
There you have it folks. The stats don't lie. This game will end up being a laugher, as the Syracuse Orange defeat the BC Eagles. Until next time.
