Game 9 Uniforms for BC

Actually, we are.
I love the old look too, but I think there's a bit too much handwringing about other styles on the board. We have pretty decent uniforms these days - and SU in the 40s, 50s, 60s and 70s wore all sorts of combos of orange, blue, and white. I think every look hearkens back to one era or another. I'm just happy we're playing competitive football!

I’d love to see vs Pitt OBO but with the porthole jersey!

Still going to bang a drum for something like this in Orange.

If we are ever going to do a one-off uniform, I’d like to see something like Seattle’s uniform. Use the Orange as a bright accent color like they use the green, but an orange helmet.

We have traditional unis now(which I'm happy about).
Alternate should and can be as flamboyant/flashy as possible.

From the late 1950s to Dr. Gross the basic look was the same - orange helmets and orange pants.

Ben went with white jerseys at home until 1967.

Maloney tried to change the look with the Miami white, orange, white look at home - which lasted three seasons.

Mac touched up the look for the better in 1984.

And Dr. Gross messed with the look starting in 2005.

I believe, as I have said, that the BS uniforms mess with the Syracuse Football Brand - when you see us on TV we could be any number of schools - Oklahoma State, Illinois, Miami - and when we go with the all white look probably fifty other schools.

The Coach Mac look is smart, classic and is the Brand that is immediately recognizable.

Playing without orange hats and orange pants is like ND playing without gold hats and pants.

It's just wrong.

I wouldn't mind being like the Cowboys and always wearing orange helmets, white jerseys and orange pants for all games and wear the blue tops once a year like LSU does which makes it special.

I loooooooove the classic unis. Love love love both the home and roads. The alternative color schemes I tolerate. I don’t complain, but it feels “forced” for me.

The only complaint I’ve ever had about uniforms are the god awful unreadable sheets of toilet paper we wore during the Dungey years.

I have no idea how a group of adults with an ounce of marketing savy could have looked at those demos and said “yep- that’s exactly what I want! Unreadable uniforms with subtle messages that no one can see that don’t include our traditional colors. Perfect!”

Thank you

I want a Tucker OBO jersey this off season to wear to home games next season. Only question is, which number will it be!

Yeah, those uniforms were horrid. I love the traditional. Hell, I had seasons through Donnie McNabb's four years, and really started watching SU football in 1988. Those uniforms hold a special place in my heart and always will. But time marches on.

The traditional home and away are great but I really like the all orange and all-white look from time to time. I don't think it denigrates the brand at all, and everyone up in arms over it gets a little over the top about it. We're separated from the glory days by more than 20 years at this point and those four uni combos are a great nod to the past while also branding the Syracuse of today.

It's a different world and while I'm not into the "new look" every week that some schools advocate for, I think a rotation of four unis with the two traditional being the majority is just fine.

I love your passion OrangePA. I don't necessarily agree completely with your stance (see my response to Jake) but I love how much orange you bleed.

The absolute worst uniform in the history of SU was the all grays from that era. That includes when we wore pink and pea green. Whoever approved the all grays should have been shot into the sun.

Yet we still wear those stupid numbers on the mens lacrosse unis. Time to retire those now!
