So re-watched the game and if you get a chance definitely give it a watch.

Lehigh - Of course this is not a top 25 team but they are the favorites in a league that is no stranger to NCAA success as well as having decent talent for a lower tier league. They have size, speed and more talent that people are giving them credit for. For the first game out of the gates they are a far cry from a sacrificial lamb. This is a team likely with a shot to play in the tourney and be a scary 13-15 seed. They will also be a positive for the RPI and SOS.

High Points -

Defense -
The zone was really active tonight. A lot of movement and active hands led to Lehigh turnovers. DC was a little lost. Chino and Tyler did a nice job inside especially Chino in the first half. His inside work really helped key the big first half run. The 2nd half Lehigh attacked the zone more intelligently and showed why they are the P-league favorites. Additionally we got a little sloppy with positioning and overplaying leading to too many offensive rebounds.

Freshmen- This is an impressive group. Mal can ball. Kid can light it up from outside, has good vision, good defensive instincts and this is game 1. Lydon showed he has a nice all around game. Kid has some springs getting up for those boards. He got pushed around but vs a solid interior team held his own. Love to see him use the dribble more as the season goes on. Howard had a nice cameo and threw a pretty pass on the break for an open 3. I love his instincts as a PG and the flexibility he brings to a multiple guard offense.

Ball movement- Yes the offense was too much about the 3 ball. We shot about 8 too many imho. However the ball moved a lot and did so quickly. As these guys get comfortable you will see more off the bounce and just a cleaner offense all around. There were a ton of plays where we got penetration and kicked and then looked to find the open man. That is good basketball and will lead to better offensive output.

Low Points-

Shooting-
The boys missed a lot of open looks. Lydon pumped once too many on an open look. A few too many kick-outs on opportunities to get to the line. We will have to prove we can hit those looks more often to keep the defense honest. Definitely not an impressive showing pct wise. Cooney missed way too many good looks that would have kept our cushion.

Turnovers- Way too much sloppy play. It definitely looked to be partly some complacency in the 2nd half and poor management of the lead. We have to value the rock more. Kaleb needs some more time on the ball. Just a few possession turned the game around with some bad turnovers.

Rebounding - We were lazy on our own O-glass missing chances at times. Gotta be stronger here and need Roberson to stay engaged all game. On d same issue as Coleman got caught ball watching at times and missed Kempton crashing in.

Overall I saw a lot of things we can build on especially good minutes from Chino and the production from the frosh. We let Lehigh back in and being the solid well coached team they are they took advantage. Clean some things up and keep improving. Light years from this game being a sign of doom. Kaleb earned some more minutes as well. G will need to step it up more and be a leader. Good start time to keep going.

based on jb's comments there will be no inside game and we will be shooting 3's all season---so ok, we just have to make them. we have not been a good rebounding team for several years, and i do not see that changing. to me, this and the lack of a inside game will plague us all year, and next if we don' get an inside threat.

Nice job! I enjoyed reading. I thought the team had a bad case of nerves in the first half, and then it got worse in the second half! They looked fairly lost and shouldn't have been with Silent G and Cooney. At any rate, much to work upon in practice. I am hoping for a vastly improved second game.
