Here’s the way I look at it. The only games worthy of the prime time spot on ABC were a game already scheduled for the LHN (Iowa State v. Texas), a game with a team that was on last week (Duke v. Clemson) and :vomit: (Cincinnati v. UCF). I almost think ESPN may have tried negotiating with Texas to get it moved over, but they refused/wanted too much. Had Oklahoma State beaten OU, I’m sure the WVU v. Oklahoma State game would have been attractive. Their hand was forced with Cincinnati v. UCF and they figured they’d take a chance. Now, they had an AAC game scheduled for ABC prime time, they had to figure out a way to hype the matchup in order to get eyeballs. Based on name recognition alone, neither team moves the needle. Maybe they figured that their best way to hype the matchup was via Gameday. Had they been able to put any other game on, I think you’re looking at a Yankee Stadium Gameday. It is very interesting that it took them so long to announce Gameday would be at UCF. This shows that there was some sort of discussion and or hesitation going on.

And with all that being said, I’m probably waaaaaay over thinking it. Let’s just beat the damn Irish.
