Against Liberty, their clear gameplan was to take away the deep ball. It worked. They kept the score down and threw off Tommy's groove. Fortunately, we have a diverse offense and shifted to shorter passes and used three runners to drive down the field. This team is going to be much different than last year's team, with a lot of variety in offensive players and looks.
How will we gameplan for Maryland and how will they gameplan against us? Based on what they'll have on tape, will they focus on stopping the run or pass? Our running game played pretty well at times. Maryland ran 48 times to 30 passes in their game against Howard. We gave up more yards passing than running against Liberty. Will Maryland come out passing or focus on running? They had six different runners with double-digit yard runs.
I'm glad that Dino will have tape of Maryland to work with. It seemed as though the coaches were more affected by not having tape of Liberty than were the players. Adaptation is all well and good but preparation is better...
