Louisville is falling backwards
Pitt having a down year
Villanova having a down year
UConn having a down year (despite being ranked 8)
St Johns is...meh
ND is...meh

EDIT: West Virginia and Georgetown are meh too...

Maybe its just me, but I can't wait to get all our sports the hell out of this conference.

Just win, baby.

Wins = beneficial seeding in the NCAA tournament. And if we make a run, it isn't going to matter whether the BE was down this year.

All I know is forget Pitt...thank God we wont be playing Marquette anymore. Wow, ive had it with them!!!!!

Many people poopoo'd my "SU is head and shoulders above the rest of the Big East" thread. I see more of you are beginning to come around. ;)

Georgetown fell to WVU @ WVU today, too

I feel you.

But I DO get the impression that we got a monkey off of our back today. A lot of things went right for Marquette today in how the game played out, and we still won by 7. I got nervous when they cut it to two, worrying about how our kids would respond, whether they'd be thinking 'uh oh...here we go again,' but they got the job done.

Both statements are accurate. Even after the last two games.

Also accurate: SU is clearly the best team in America right now. But it's January 7th.

I'll give you Drummond and Lamb, as they are clearly NBA players. I don't think another guy on the roster sticks in the NBA, though. Oriakhi will get a look, but I don't think he sticks.

you have to understand that their whole thing now is that nothing matters until the ncaa tourney. why? because the won the last one. obviously it is the only thing that matters.

If only winning the tourney could get them into the ACC.

Slight over reaction. Sucks is a little too strong, but SU is the only elite team. There are several decent to good teams that SU could stub their toe against but without a doubt this is the weakest Big East in years. If SU stays consistent 14-2 should be possible and 16-0 is not impossible, though unlikely.

We play 18 games in the Big East. 15-3 is definitely possible. 18-0 seems highly unlikely, imo. Love to see it happen, though.

Yep. Agreed. Nationwide lots of top teams struggled today and failed to cover spreads. Duke also blew a big H lead against a bad GTech team. UK was ordinary vs an ok South Carolina team. Baylor too. Those are the teams who won. We'll be fine until another tough M2M test.

Gotta admit, I thought about that but was too lazy to re-type! 18-0 would be tougher than 16-0! I think 16-2 is doable.

I think Boatright could get there (size is an issue, of course, but he is incredibly fast), as well as Smith & Daniels as defense/glue guys. Not superstars, but guys who you need to matchup on defense.

If Smith and Daniels can get there, I'm sure Triche, Scoop, Southerland, Kieta, and Mookie can get there too. So we have 11 NBA players on our roster.

It's the NBDL, home of Hasheem Thabeet and eternal loser Andy Rautins (what a horrible draft pick by the Knicks).

Would you care to elaborate on the "eternal loser" part of your post?

For sure, not nearly as good as last year but it's still rated the second best conference behind the Big10. I don't know if I would agree with that, I think the SEC is looking pretty good this year.

Not so fast my friend, Rautins NBDL is home to neither, as Hasheem (what a horrible pick for anyone) and Jonny are bench buddies at Houston, while Rautins is playing overseas.

I agree, though UConn's problems are deeper than I would have thought. Read that soliloquy Napier gave about leadership, and after I stopped laughing, all I could think was "What?" It reminds me of the that happened with SU last year during our 4-game January losing streak. That team never really recovered after that. Generally I took for granted that UConn would get it together. If they manage to, you have the pieces for a GREAT team. If they don't, then you'll be a bubble team.

I am starting to think that Syracuse is significantly better than the rest of the Big East. I'm not sure how I feel about yesterday's game though. They're the team that built a 23 point 1st half lead. They're also the team that let that lead dwindle to 2. At that point, lots of our past teams would have folded in and lost the game. This one made plays when they had to make them against a desperate opponent. So we'll see. And as you said, it's January 8.
