His Mother died recently, so he could be run down a bit..
I don't get it. They are allowed 15 scholarships. If 6 girls are injured and they can't suit up 7 players, then they must only have 12 girls on scholarship. Sounds like a forfeit would be more appropriate.
Things are not good in Storrs.
Covid?

No, serious injury problems. No team in the country could deal what they have this year and still be top 10. As CT resident I see them quite a bit. Very resilient team but that only goes so far. I hope Auriemma is OK, he is a really funny man if you get to hear him speak in public. Everyone knows he is a great recruiter, teacher and coach.Covid?
Not all are injured, one under concussion protocol, which keeps them out.I don't get it. They are allowed 15 scholarships. If 6 girls are injured and they can't suit up 7 players, then they must only have 12 girls on scholarship. Sounds like a forfeit would be more appropriate.
I agree, no matter if you have 12 or 15 players on scholarship, if your players are injured to the point you can't field a team, it should be a forfeit - I don't understand the concept of postponement based on injury instead of outright loss. Is there other examples in sports (not counting Covid) where this has happened? How is it fair to DePaul who's putting a team out there as scheduled?I don't get it. They are allowed 15 scholarships. What if DePaul has a key injury to a player when the game is played and that player was healthy today?I agree, no matter if you have 12 or 15 players on scholarship, if your players are injured to the point you can't field a team, it should be a forfeit - I don't understand the concept of postponement based on injury instead of outright loss. Exactly, so many fair play variables… it doesn’t make sense. Can a team just list their players being “injured” (i.e. all major college players have some bump, bruise or twist at this point in the season) if it’s inconvenient for them to play a game?!What if DePaul has a key injury to a player when the game is played and that player was healthy today?
Concussions don’t qualify as injuries? Not all are injured, one under concussion protocol, which keeps them out.
As CT resident maybe you can enlighten me that with all these injuries the past 2 yrs why Deberry has gotten more minutes? Does she not fit UConn style of play? Seems strange a top 15 player can't get on the court. No, serious injury problems. No team in the country could deal what they have this year and still be top 10. I heard that Auriemma and staff have complained about her lack of physicality and conditioning. They had her on a big strength & conditioning program over the summer, preseason but you’re right, regardless, it sure hasn’t gotten her time on the court in her 2nd year there. There was some quote from him saying she’s a skilled finesse player but not physical enough to play in college there yet.As CT resident maybe you can enlighten me that with all these injuries the past 2 yrs why Deberry has gotten more minutes? First of all at uconn they are almost all top ranked recruits. Playing time is earned and not easily won when practicing with and against the best. Geno does not typically call out players so I do not know why.I heard that Auriemma and staff have complained about her lack of physicality and conditioning. I knew I read something about her recently. Sorry I didn’t have the link above not remembering where I read it. Googled and finally found it. Auriemna isn’t directly quoted but Dailey, the assoc head coach is quoted. Sounds like it’s been overall a difficult adjustment from high school to college for her.First of all at uconn they are almost all top ranked recruits. When he sat Stewie and Tuck after 5 minutes for the rest of the game, he said they weren't playing the way they should.First of all at uconn they are almost all top ranked recruits. Agree with you. He knocked Tenn. of the Summit with lesser players. Then recruiting took off. Would have liked to make a run at him for SU MBB. Would have been interesting. He is not for everyone. He gets the best out of his players or they pay for it. He is a perfectionist. He is demanding, he is sarcastic, he is hilarious. We should all work for a boss who makes us better than we think we can be. That is part of Geno's magic. He is an obviously amazing coach and recruiter. He is more than "great players make great coaches.
I was surprised UCONN did not make a public run at him before Hurley, maybe something was said privately but he would be nuts to leave what he built on the ladies side. He us the greatest women's coach in history.Agree with you. He knocked Tenn. of the Summit with lesser players. Then recruiting took off. Would have liked to make a run at him for SU MBB.
