Imagine the reactions on this board if this happened to Syracuse
You can thank the Sour Sitrus Society for that. The proper phrasing for Syracuse alums and fans to end every sentence with is:
AND GEORGETOWN STILL SUCKS!!!
I don’t know what’s going on with Cooley at Gtown. He is a good coach—even though he coaches Gtown so he sucks (and also did Providence dirty). I don’t know why he’s struggling to adjust there but I don’t mind seeing it. They have some good players and won some games earlier in the year, but they might not have enough talent and don’t really have a star. College basketball, man, it’s weird.I remember people wanting Wildhack to hire Cooley after JB...would things be even worse for us in that scenario?

That DePaul defense is a juggernaut
The love some people have for Buzz Williams and Cooley has always made me scratch my head. Buzz is a program builder, and he is successful at it, but he definitely has a ceiling and doesn't stick around for long.I remember people wanting Wildhack to hire Cooley after JB...would things be even worse for us in that scenario?
THANKS!!! I've heard and read it for years but I didn't know how it started. You can thank the Sour Sitrus Society for that.
That's how the band ends every home game once everything is wrapped up and they're ready to leave the Dome.
Band Member: "Hey Tom, what time is it?"
SSS Director: "It's 9:32..."
Entire Band: "... and GEORGETOWN STILL SUCKS!"
NO!!! Emphatically NO.Can the phrase, "Georgetown still sucks!" be said enough?

He was very good at Providence, which is a hard place to win and never had a high ceiling. But it was home for him and he was a great fit there.Mack never developed and it seems Cooley never recovered from the screw ups the last couple years at PC both off and on the court.
He’s gotten some decent talent but not enough. Hes turned out a pretty average coach at best.
I love Buzz. He’s a very good coach. But his philosophy has always been “don’t wear out your welcome.” He says fans start to get sick of coaches after a while, so it’s better to get out before that happens. He’s become a program builder. Virginia Tech is a very difficult place to win big at, and he made them relevant for the first time in forever. They made three NCAA tourneys there in his last three seasons. Mike White inherited a solid program from Buzz and kept it up for a bit, but it’s hard to get top players there. Buzz’s Texas A&M teams, too, were very solid after the first couple of years, with 3 straight tourneys. He’ll get Maryland going again after a year or two. As a high major coach, he’s made 11 NCAA tourneys in 17 seasons. With three rebuilding jobs, you have to factor in some down seasons at the beginning. The guy can coach. He’s much better than Cooley, imo.The love some people have for Buzz Williams and Cooley has always made me scratch my head. Yeah, I’ve heard a bit about the behind the scenes drama with Cooley. But I maintain that Providence is a very difficult place to win big, and I don’t think they ever had great talent there. It’s a tiny private school so the alumni base is minuscule. Yes, you have non-alumni Rhode Island fans that make up part of the fanbase, like Syracuse draws from the locals upstate, but it’s a job with a hard ceiling, imo.He wasn’t as good as he could have been and he had more talent there for a couple years than he’s got this year or maybe ever with more money at Gtown. There were a lot of issues off the court beyond what was publicized and it really seems it has derailed his coaching career. One of my VPs is a PC grad , donor and a huge fan and it was a mess by the time he jumped ship.
You’d have a better record.I remember people wanting Wildhack to hire Cooley after JB...would things be even worse for us in that scenario?
Great! and don't ever forget the "and".Patrick Ewing’s record through his first 82 games at Georgetown 46-36.
Ed Cooley’s record through his first 82 games at Georgetown 36-46.
And Georgetown still sucks!
