Georgia loses to Mississippi State after fan tosses stuffed animal

what's to stop an opposing fan from pulling this while wearing the other team's shirt in the stands???

how can refs know that whoever throws something on the court is indeed on the "home" team's side of things?

slippery slope when you start let fan actions impact what happens between the lines. i don't like it.

We beat Notre Dame at ND in the 1998-2000 range I remember when something simliar happened.
It was when MacLeod was the ND coach. Some idiot ND threw a bottle on the court and Nd had a technical foul called and it helped us hold on for the win.

Yes, it was beyond stupid on the part of whoever threw the object, but it's not that "cut and dried" that they lost because of it.

According to the PBP, that was Georgia's 10th team foul, so it was 2 shots. The MooSU player missed the first. The object was thrown and the technical assessed. He made that shot. Then he intentionally missed the second shot he was entitled to to start the clock. You can see from the ball's trajectory, he was just trying to hit the rim and not make the basket. We'll never know if he could have made that second foul shot and what would have happened when Georgia in-bounded the ball from a deadball start.

i think the rarity of sociopathy in the general population is sufficient sageguard

when it's a mass incident like say a premature court storming or multiple projectiles yes i see penalties.
but if it's just a single lone fan misbehaving ( we luv you george hicker) escort them out and play on.
