Despite a certain percentage of denial, I think most fans felt that they weren't sure he was innocent but they had not been shown that he was guilty. Way too much out there that the casual fan had/has no way of knowing

I remember when someone (Tristy maybe?) proclaimed that we should all be standing behind Bernie because is is "family", I thought "Whoa! He's not part of MY family! I don't know the man at all, nor do I think for a second that he'd stand behind ME if I were in trouble."

I tried to remain neutral...lots of bad journalism, three prior investigations, etc. Still, there was always this nagging "where there is smoke, there is fire" feeling.

Still trying to keep an open mind but this tape looks pretty damning and I expect Bernie to be gone today if it hasn't happened already

Just wondering...has voice technology improved THAT much in 9 years? Couldn't a match have been made in 2002?

That said, just to play devil's advocate here - we still don't know that Fine ever sexually abused underage boys. We now are pretty sure he's a homosexual that had an infatuation with Davis. We don't know when Fine had sexual relations with Davis.

Just stating the facts and looking at this from a legal perspective.

Agree...that's why I'm still keeping an open mind. Doesn't look good at all though. If Laurie Fine allegedly banged him when he was 18, the stuff with Bernie likely started earlier.

Same here, Dick. I think we all want/wanted Bernie to be cleared of this. However, a few here cautioned to let the process play out before damning anyone.

I don't think any of us wanted to be naive. Yes, it can happen here and it can be good old Bernie. We didn't want ti to be true so we viewed the allegations and the people making them with skepticism. Some chose to go beyond that with condemnation. Those are the uncomfortable ones right now.

Agree. I was especially uncomfortable with the trashing of the accusers from their personal habits to their socio-economic status. That did nothing to address the issues.

I have been torn between three dichotomies; 1) prior investigations found no proof and nobody previously supported Davis' claims, but 2)Davis didn't give up and stuck to his story, which actually made me worry, and 3)none of us knew all the facts nor did we know what other smoking guns/time bombs were/still are out there. That made me worry too. Still does.

It ain't over but #1 is looking pretty shaky while #3 continues to loom larger. SOMETHING screwed up was happening and the only remaining issues would seem to be 1)what are the ramifications based upon what we currently know, and 2) is there more yet to come?
