GMAC / Blackwell / AO to Siena

Bad loss for Siena against Canisius today 93-88. Gave up 61 points in the second half to a now 3 win team.
gmac is going to be a good coach but i would puke if he was named head coach at SU tiime to move outside of the family. JW did what was required. Red has been given and will be given a very fair opportunity to do well. But if he fails please go find the best coach possible and Gmac isnt that guy

Well, again, you're giving GMAC credit for things that haven't happened yet by saying Doty will win MAAC rookie of the year, without there being any sense of what winning that award actually means, yet using that as evidence of Red's inability to identify talent. You also said that Doty would play significant minutes for us and "at least" be our 6th man. Which, maybe, but that's unknowable, and is something you're giving credit to GMAC for at Red's expense.

And this is why I don't find what you're posting to be credible. Your bias to GMAC is so extensive that you're nowhere close to objectivity. You give GMAC credit for hypothetical achievements, but you don't stop there - you then subjectively stack up these points in favor of GMAC against Red. And you're not conscious of it. You've asked me several times now for me to show you where you're doing what I've described, and I quote it directly in your posts.

Like if you're just a die hard GMAC fan that's fine, but it's weird on SYRACUSEfan.com to take frequent opportunities to shine a spotlight on Siena basketball as an excuse to dump on Red using made up assertions.

Siena is a program with a losing record that's a better record than they had last year. That's the objective statement. If you want to sing their praises for it, fine. If you want to praise GMAC for it as a former Orange, fine.

But if you are going to talk negatively about the program and our actual head coach using made up stuff, I'm going to call it out. There are plenty of valid criticisms right now without spinning into the world of fiction as you do.
Please lets let little g grow

Siena survives and beats Fairfield 68-64 to clinch a spot in the MAAC tournament. At one point they led by 17 but Fairfield came back & tied it. Brendan Coyle hit a big 3 and Gavin Doty made multiple FTs at the end. In his post-game TV interview GMac was asked about the team's chances in the conference tournament when they'll be playing in a first round game [Tuesday night] and having to win 4 games to win the tourney and go to the NCAAs. He started his answer with "I did it". "Then a year after me Kimba Walker did it " "Then last year in the ACC NC St did it." "So we're capable of making some noise."

Fantastic!
I am so proud of Gerry - team on an upward trend.
I hope someone steps up with NIL money to keep Doty.

Not likely to be sure but I will laugh my ass off if somehow they win the MAAC tournament and make the NCAAT. No one at Siena probably even expected this turnaround from 4 wins.

We don’t know if GMAC isn’t that guy. Everyone is so hung up on moving on from JB and the Cuse family …People JB was a great coach .. Yeah he played some daddy ball in his last years and the team fell a bit .. He still won with a weaker roster and got to some sweet 16s… The Autry hire was bad but that’s not a reflection on JB or the Cuse family… GMAC is his own coach and person .. He had fantastic 1st year and if it continues and he has higher success next year why would you not look at him .. Just because he’s Cuse family .. That makes zero sense .. Again watch a Siena game and see him coach and his body language and competitive spirit … It’s very evident the guy is gonna be a really good coach but let’s pass on him if he’s good!

Maybe AW with the NIL money?

Syracuse needs a 100% cultural turnover after Red is done.

No former assistants with connections to donors or the BOT.

Part of why we are in this this downward spiral is because the culture is rotten... "Let's do it the way we have always done with someone we know"...it is not going to work for us anymore.

Clean slate reboot with a quality external hire and staff and NIL connections (like we saw with Fran.)

Why should we go outside??

For example, Strength & Conditioning... do we want a fresh approach on that or do want what we've always done??

i.e. Old-skool get players into shape by using the first month-and-half of the season's games to build their strength and stamina and hope they aren't injured in the process. Can we get underweight players on nutrition and weight room plans to actually put on bulk when needed and conversely slim down players that are a little heavy?

S&C is just one example of where we need a new, fresh, and MODERN approach. There are others as well.

...At least that's my 2 cents.

I think if Red made a change on S&C people would see it as a good sign. Not a seismic change but a needed one in my opinion.

Why would he do that?

What we are seeing is all the things JB did just with a lot less talent, a switch from zone-D to God knows what, and much worse in-game coaching acumen.

Other ITKs have already said he hasn't done what he needs to do in portal and player targeting or on the fundraising front... sound familiar??

Anyways, not betting he knows what to do with S&C either.
