First and foremost, the staff is looking very impressive. Brunt, Daly, and Lee are all exceptional hires. Gerry may have been the "family" hire, but he knew outside perspectives were not only wanted, but necessary.

We have all been clamoring for European players, and out of the blue an elite scoring Euro gets brought into the fold. Many on here wanted a complete roster overhaul and we got that too. Factor in the major donations coming into the program and this has been an exceptional first week or so.

It seems obvious that GMAC had a vision and is quickly making it happen. Now we need to finish this portal period strong and get back to prominence next season. This is the same feeling I had from Fran year 1. What started as skepticism has quickly turned into excitement.

“Crushing” might be a bit hyperbolic.

Staff seems great. Step 1.

Step 2 are the outflows. Predictable so far but need to retain White.

Step 3 are the inflows. Good so far but a really long way to go. This is like saying you hit your first two shots of the game to go up 4-0 and you run around the Dome with your shirt off celebrating the team is going to win the NCAA championship.

Counterpoint - WE'RE SO BACK

We’re not winning 10 fkng games next year! Not 10! Some posters here crashing out at an all time rate. It’s beyond hilarious. They would find problems if we convinced and poached Cam Boozer to not go to the draft. It’s so early and remember in the end. A lot more goes into a successful team than what happens in the transfer portal.

We have three players in the fold right now. Three.

I'll reserve judgement on how much we're "crushing it" until I see how the roster comes together.

Honestly, the groupthink around here is getting deep. We're all excited about McNamara, but the need to shout down any opinion that isn't wild-eyed optimistic is getting boring.

Doty, Eurodude and walk on Ed Sheeran?

i think there's a reason the op said "so far".

And my response was inclusive of current state.

I don't want to hear about "crushing" press conferences, after everyone got so worked up about Red ostensibly doing the same thing. It was a fun press conference.

Looks like he also brought in a good staff, although Brunt seems to be in limbo. So let's wait for the official announcement.

His next task was to meet with the players, and retain the ones who he indicated that the "cupboard wasn't bare." So far, everyone but Kiyan has left [White up in the air]. So from a player retention standpoint, I don't think he is crushing it. I personally am happy to see a roster overhaul, but personal opinions aside, I think people could look at this and not put it in the "crushing" column.

Very happy about 3M. Off to a great start recruiting.

Doty via portal. So far, so good. 9 more spots to fill. Not "crushing" it yet.

Again, not sure why any opinion that isn't blindly swinging from the chandellier is viewed as negative. Gerry is off to a great start in some respects, and in others -- TBD.

I can't wait to see the fawning if we get into the tournament as a 10 seed. Just because we haven't made the dance in 5 years doesn't mean we should lower our standards. It wasn't acceptable during JB's 10-year slide and it shouldn't be acceptable now.

Look at it this way: historically any year we were less than a 5 seed was pretty forgettable. The lone exception might be when Moten called TO and we should've beaten Arkansas as a 7.

the 95 team slid at the end of the year. but man they had that Arkansas game won, one of the most crushing losses as a long time cuse fan.

Everything looks good so far. In a short time he has put together what seems to be a good staff, had honest conversations with the players, and now that the portal is open he gets to build his roster.

Perhaps he wanted to keep some of the current players, but I'd guess either the money wasn't going to work, or when he stated his expectations they thought it better to go elsewhere. Beyond that, maybe they just didn't like being at Syracuse. No one knows.

Turning over a whole roster is no big deal in today's version of college basketball. Just hope he has the budget to bring in who he wants.
