This has been a tough football year - the Orange and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Last night was more of the same it seems.

I have to believe the horrible weather favored the option attack that Ga Southern runs - the two QBs were outstanding - really fast.

Still, the BG Falcons played really hard - the defense hit hard, was very aggressive and had chances to clamp down on the option.

It brought back memories of our game vs. GaTech a couple of years ago. We knew the option was coming, but it looked as if we never prepared for it or made any in-game adjustments to stop it.

Exactly.

Given the kick would have been into the wind but Going for it 4th and 9 from the 25 when down 3 seemed strange. I am all for aggression and going for it when between the 50 and 35 yard line but you try to tie the game there. It gets your players into it and then when ga so runs two plays for a TD your down 7 instead of 10. I will hope and assume interim DC/HC vs HCDB, decision might be different.

As it regards to the weather these guys must be loving the idea of 7 games in a dome and 50+% of the remaining 5 likely in good weather or at least warm weather states. Years when we play Pitt and BC at home (not next year) we have a chance to play every game in warm weather or indoors. That being said yesterdays game was played in a freaking monsoon in Mobile Alabama so there are two sides to that southern weather coin I guess. Also we play GT once every 6 years thankfully and next time is at home.

Worst game in the SS era.
Imagine sitting through that in rainy conditions... I hope to never have to endure anything like that again.

It was as bad as I have ever experienced.

On Wednesday, I decided to take a day trip to Atlanta from Philadelphia.

It started okay with a hot dog and fries at The Varsity.

When the game began the rain came - I didn't bring rain gear.

I don't recall our defense ever actually taking down the Ga Tech QB - he seemed to go out of bounds after every long run.

I met John Raymon's parents at the airport and arranged to meet John after the game.

John, of course, suffered a really bad injury that day - I think he had to remain in Atlanta for treatment?

All in all, a really bad SU Football experience.

Georgia Southern made tons of defenses look bad and BG is built to defend teams trying to comeback from a hole by passing. Not elite running games.

Weather didn't help.

I'm not concerned at all.

I feel your pain; Orange and Bills fan here. Orange performed close to my expectations but I bought into the Bills hype this off season - they are Lucy and I'm their Charlie Brown - hope is eternal and someday I'll get to kick the football.

I'm much more optimistic for the Orange next year than I am for the Bills.

How much rope does Ward get at Syracuse?

Well, we play GT once every 6 years or so.
Even *if* we get steamrolled by them again, it's a lot more important how we play D against all the non-triple-option teams we'll face.
Babers seems to like what he brings, so I'd imagine he gets as much rope as he needs.

Plenty
"The Falcons rose from 108th in the country in scoring defense to 62nd and 118th in total defense to 78th. BGSU also forced 27 turnovers, tied for ninth-most in the nation. While those numbers aren't gaudy, they're impressive considering this: Bowling Green lost nine starters from 2014"
Really can't judge the man on a game against an unusual offense after being off for an extended period of time. In said game where he had to be the HC and DC.
