Was I the only one hoping we could have a dual threat QB at the Goal line? Kimble, Long, Broyld. The whole stadium knew AAM was getting the ball and Wilson wasn't running. Dual threat makes a huge difference there, even if just for the threat.

Oh I was definitely thinking about bringing Long in - but yikes - a freshman totally cold off the bench in that situation was a disaster waiting to happen. A mishandled snap and everyone would go insane. Of course there was a fake fg from the 2 foot line so who knows.

Our OL should have been able to provide the push needed even if they knew what was coming.

But why not make it easier and us less predictable by having another running threat in there?
2 reasons, we were playing an FCS team that was much smaller than us and we needed 1 yard. Also we either burn the RS of Long, or we bring in Kimble, the guy 4th on the depth chart for one snap who has zero in game experience.

We didn't do anything wrong scheme wise. We just sucked at executing. Sometimes it really just is that simple, do what you do best, and don't care if the other team knows it's coming, blow them off the ball and win for one snap. We couldn't do it against Nova, hopefully when we need it again down the line we will be able to get it done.

We should have gone under center for the plays. Shot gun takes the ball 3-5 yards off the line depending on the depth of the RB. It is fact that this provides the D with an advantage as you move the point of secondary contact back. With the QB under center you have to account for him at the point of attack regardless of his running ability as he is always capable of a QB sneak. I would have gone power I with Clay at FB and AAM at tailback. I would have also challanged Miller on first down to beat his man and actually have called a sneak as Wilson is big enough and has the length at 6-3. This one is on cool kid. Simply no excuse.

a play action pass wouldn't have hurt on 1 of the 6 attempts inside the 5

So all of the teams out there without a dual threat QB should just give up? Be serious - it was the play calling and the execution. We were playing an FCS team and have the most experienced line in the ACC. Has anyone heard of play action pass, a fade route, a slant, or how abut the TE play like the one we used with Provo?

We were predictable.

Agreed horrible play calling thank God the guy can recruit
