Gonzaga

We are very, very lucky that Przemek Karnowski is out for the year. Was 1st team All-WCC center last year at 7'1 & listed between 270-300 lbs. Him on the floor with Sabonis & Wiltjer would've just been a brutal matchup for us especially the minute that one of our bigs got in foul trouble.

This game will come down to Roberson. If he can control the boards, it will allow us to play Lydon in the first half. Gonzaga doesn't really have anybody that matches up well with him. Then we bring in Coleman to smack their tired bigs around in the second half.

I'm pretty confident in the outcome. Roberson is going to like the idea of battling with Wiltjer and Sabonis.
If Roberson is going out to the 3pt line to defend Wiltjer, he's going to have a hard time being in the paint to corral rebounds.

We'll see how disciplined Gonzaga is keeping Wiltjer to that side.

Hope so, they're going to be a tough out for SU. I think they should try to feed Coleman early in the game to draw some fouls on Sabonis, which depending on how Coleman handles it could be a version of cutting our own throats (I'm not sure how many possessions Syracuse could give away to having Coleman turn the ball over and not draw fouls). Lydon, I think could do well against Wiltjer, I'm sure he hasn't had to shoot over too many 6'9" athletes.

It's going to be an interestingly coached game since Few and Boeheim are fishing buddies.

Depth is a factor as well. Right now Gonzaga only has 6 players really. For once we have more depth in 7 capable bodies. If we can get them in any foul trouble our 8th/9th guys Joseph/Chino are better than theirs.

Gonzaga has 2 guys hurt and their guard play isn't that good this year. In college basketball guard play matters. I think Sabonis/Wiltjer in the free throw line in the middle of the zone could be dangerous.

If Roberson is plugged in we can win this game.

I'm not worried about Roberson being plugged in. Chicago is a huge city. JB oughta be able to find an outlet somewhere in that place.

totally. I'm more concerned about wiltjer and saboner at the FT line chewing us up Pitt style

They don't shoot that well. Average. Our 3pt D is really good. If they win it will be rebounding and paint touches.

That's what TNT said in the post-game show. Our D is really good for preventing 3s but not so good at stopping big men down low. Could be a bad match up for us.

i like our chances honestly. we are seeing a different SU team and Zaga hasnt seen a defense like ours all year. will be a tough game, but so was dayton and mtsu before we locked in

Finesse? Sabonis has better footwork than anyone else on either team. If they high/low us between the elbow and the buffer & short corner, he's going to be a problem. But both Few and Boeheim know that, and this is going to be part of the fun. :)
I said "besides Sabonis." Wiltjer is finesse big time, he would rather step out to the three point line.
