He had a nice game today. He finally looked good defensively with his speed and length. He handed the ball well really and was aggressive off the dribble for the first time this year. His hustle today was valubale.

11 points on 3-7 shooting makes him our 7th rotational player to put up 10 plus in 3 games. That could be real good news.

He also had 6 rebouds (4 offensive), 3 assists 1 steal(and a few tipped balls). There was atleast two plays where he made a dish after property drawing the defender on the fast break. He could have easily had 15 points or 5 assists instead.

I know a lot of people were worried about he would handle the backup PG..but he seems to be the least of our worries now. He's our oldest backcourt player and we'll need him.

We can't...I repeat...we CAN'T have our only backup PG shooting 6-14 on the year for FT's. That will surely cost us at some point this year.

There is a certain level of comfort that comes from doing. In an entire season at Duke, with very limited playing time Gbinije went 7-7 at the FT line. In one game this year he had 12 attempts. He is a better shooter than the results would indicate; he just needs to play more, do more, and his level of comfort will increase with each game.

I remain optimistic.

His free throw shooting must improve, that's fairly obvious.

I will say, after Canada, I didn't expect to get much out of G this year, but I have been pleasantly surprised by his play so far. He's probably going to be a bit like Ennis, in that he'll have a few 15 point type games mixed in with a bunch of 4 point games. Still, he's shown good recognition on when to take his man to the hoop, and he seems to be letting the game come to him. Hopefully he continues his progression and continues improving at PG - he's going to be a very important piece going forward. It will be interesting to see what happens when the competition gets a bit stiffer.

I think his improvement from game 1 to game 3 has been dramatic- game 1 it looked like he couldn't even dribble the ball and yesterday he was aggressive from the start looking to score and using his great length at the top of the zone

So at Duke he was shooting 100% and at SU he is shooting 43% - the Syracuse effect strikes yet again.

I too was disappointed with Mike before yesterday. Definitely showed he belongs and that he will only get better. This is huge going forward. As far as the FT... instead of just shooting the ball, it almost looks like he's holding it out in front of him and aiming it in.

I got the feeling that he just felt more comfortable out there. Seemed much more controlled and not trying to make something happen.

Gotta say that Gbinije's been the most pleasant surprise for me out of anyone on the team. Thought he's played really well so far - aside from one stretch of poor play in Cornell game where he got frustrated with foul calls.

Think he's shown a better handle than I was expecting from someone so new to PG position. And he seems to play under control too when running the offense - 5 assists in 20 mins vs Cornell is pretty nice. And zero turnovers so far on season? Know that can't last too long, but great to see.

And love love love the size he brings to top of the zone. He already has at least 1 steal in each game. Never thought we could replace a 6-6 PG with someone even taller haha, but it's true, our backup PG is 6-7.

And lastly, I love how willing of a rebounder he is. Was hoping he would continue to do "forward position" things even as a guard (mostly rebounding / being comfortable in paint) and I have not been disappointed. 6 rebounds in 18 mins vs Colgate? Fantastic. Such a luxury to have good rebounding guards past few years like MCW & hopefully now Gbinije & even Ennis. Very under-rated contribution from a guard, IMO.

Really excited to have this player for the next 3 years. He's already playing solid basketball - interested to see how he responds to better comp - but, being a former top recruit & having practiced against Duke & Syracuse level talent past 2 years, I think he should be fine.

Now just gotta work on those foul shots...

Silent G is a solid glue type player. Him and Keita are instrumental to this year's success.

Besides learning the good zone defense, my biggest worry for this year's team is foul shooting. Holy cow! This team needs to practice foul shooting!
